Ocon, who had to serve a five- second time penalty after be- ing judged to have passed Felipe Nasr behind the Safety Car, spent 1m44.383s in the pit lane during a botched first stop. That compares to 28.315s, the quickest overall pit lane time of the race, achieved by Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton. Ocon also lost a further 15 sec- onds during another slow stop later in the race and came home a twice-lapped 18th. "We need to look at that to un- derstand exactly what happened," Ryan said, referring to the Safety Car incident. "Esteban was certain he was ahead of Nasr moments before the Safety Car boards were out. "But that's irrelevant; the stew- ards thought otherwise hence the five-second penalty. "This had to be served at our next stop, which quite frankly was an unmitigated disaster. "Thereafter it was a case of get- ting what we could out of the race, but once again it was a par- ticularly frustrating weekend for Esteban." Ocon echoed Ryan's comments and admitted he was frustrated by the situation. "I lost so much time and it was very frustrating, because there was little I could do but focus on finishing the race," he said. "Then there was a second diffi- cult stop and it was tough to be so far down." Valencia to host MotoGP finale until 2021 MOTOGP'S season finale will continue to be held at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo Circuit after a new agreement was reached through to the end of 2021. Valencia has hosted a round of the championship since the circuit was built in 1999, and it has acted as the last event of the season since 2002. Valencia's current deal expired at the end of 2016 but a new five- year deal was struck between Valencia President Ximo Puig, Sports Councillor Vicent Mar- zà, and Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta. "We are thrilled that MotoGP will be returning to Valencia for another five years," said Ezpele- ta. "The new agreement to return to the track is fantastic for the championship, for Valencia and for fans both in the region and worldwide. "Ricardo Tormo always pro- vides a unique and memorable event to end the season." This year's season finale will take place at the Spanish circuit on 13 November.
