50 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 2 OCTOBER 2016 A stronger and better Pink October with GlobalCapital Nexia BT sponsors Women Directors in Malta (WDM) AS proud sponsors of Women Directors in Malta (WDM), Nexia BT are honoured to be participating at the business breakfast which will be held on Wednesday 5 October at Sky Parks Business Centre, Luqa. The aim of the conference is to understand, and learn to appre- ciate, the positive impact that having a diversified board offers to the company at large and to explore possibilities on how this can be achieved. Anita Aloisio, Partner at Nex- ia BT and one of the founding members of WDM said, "WDM is offering women a platform to express their concerns, their needs and the challenges they are faced with at the workplace. The driving factor is not to push our way on Boards, but merely to hold the chairs which are due to us, and as a result, attain bet- ter results for firms. As a recognised Equal Op- portunity Employer, Nexia BT promotes diversity and gen- der equality. We promote this throughout the different clus- ters within the firm and em- brace family-friendly measures which are the same for both our female and male employees." Joining WDM offers its mem- bers significant support, in- cluding: help with board strat- egy, board profile and interview preparation and personal intro- ductions to experienced direc- tors who can provide advice and encouragement. More information the work that WDM carries out and about the event can be found online http://womendirectors. org.mt/. The Pink October 2016 cam- paign aims to raise €90,000 from corporate sponsors, private do- nations and from various activi- ties which will be held through- out October. The funds will be used to purchase a Faxitron Biovision machine to further en- hance diagnostic precision and effectiveness during breast and other cancer related surgery. Over the last three years, Pink October has raised €150,000 in funds and is now recognized as Malta's largest fund raising and awareness event on breast cancer. Details about campaign events planned for Pink October 2016 were announced by Mrs Mi- chelle Muscat, chairperson of The Marigold Foundation, and Adrian Fabri, company director at JPA, organisers of the cam- paign, during a launch event held at GlobalCapital in Ta' Xbiex in the presence of local NGOs ac- tive in breast cancer awareness programs, Europa Donna Malta and Action for Breast Cancer Foundation. The event was also addressed by Mr Reuben Zam- mit, CEO of GlobalCapital, main sponsor of the event. Pink October 2016 brings to- gether a number of non-profit and commercial entities under an umbrella movement united by a shared vision to step up the fight against breast cancer, in- cluding The Marigold Founda- tion, NGOs Europa Donna Malta and Action for Breast Cancer, JPA, the majority of Malta's me- dia houses and numerous com- mercial partners. For the first time since incep- tion in 2014, the Pink October movement is receiving a financial boost from GlobalCapital p.l.c. In line with its corporate values and ethos, GlobalCapital has ac- cepted to sponsor the Pink Oc- tober campaign through a main sponsorship agreement. This collaboration coincides with the launching of Cancer Care - a new insurance product by GlobalCap- ital offering up to €100,000 in fi- nancial support for policyholders who encounter cancer during the term of their policy. "Our business at GlobalCapital is derived from protecting life and health. Insurance products provide a shoulder and peace of mind when unpleasant circum- stances in our lives unfold un- expectedly. However, the best protection always stems from leading healthy lifestyles and awareness; early diagnosis in- creases survival chances. This is the main reason why GlobalCap- ital has joined forces with Pink October Malta – to raise as much awareness as possible on breast cancer and the available methods to fight it," CEO Reuben Zammit said. Adrian Fabri, company Direc- tor at JPA, said "We are proud to have given birth and nurtured the Pink October Malta move- ment over the past three years. Pink October is undoubtedly the leading platform in Malta for raising awareness and funds towards the breast cancer cause. We are indebted to all NGOs and health care professionals for their untiring efforts to save lives and we are equally indebted to all our campaign partners who contribute towards making Pink October a reality." Donations collected last year were used to purchase X-ray equipment for breast biopsies, thus helping surgeons to be more accurate when removing breast cancers and increase survival rates for patients.
