52 maltatoday, SUNDAY, 9 OCTOBER 2016 Sport TRIATHLON Express Trailers supports Maltese Triathlete's participation in Kona2016 - Hawaii THIS weekend, Maltese Triath- lete David Galea will be f lying Malta's f lag as he competes in one of the most gruelling Iron- man competitions, KONA 2016 in Hawaii. Athletes from all over the world compete in various qualif ying events to be able to enter this competition but only 2% of them manage to qualif y. The Ironman in Kona was held yesterday and forms part of the Ironman World Championship. "Qualif ying for a competition like Kona 2016 is already an achievement in itself and this is why Express Trailers has agreed to sponsor David Galea's trip to Hawaii by supporting the lo- gistics involved in getting him and his equpment all the way to Kona," comments Franco Azzo- pardi, Chairman and CEO of Express Trailers. "At Express Trailers, endur- ance is a recurring theme as we constantly strive and man- age to meet the high standards we have reached in our delivery and logistics field. We are strong players in the industry but none- theless, stamina is important to retain the levels of service that secures the business. Our employees play an impor- tant role in securing this busi- ness and this is why we want them to look at athletes like David Galea as an inspiration to them in their journey of self- development. We do not just expect them to deliver. We wish for them to become better per- sons because better and strong- er persons lead to a better and stronger company." Earlier this year, Express Trail- ers confirmed its support to a number of clubs in Malta related to road running and cycling, two disciplines that also form part of the Ironman challenge. "Our company's operations are mainly based on road transport. This makes us very sensitive to the fact that people may per- ceive us to be a bit of a disrup- tion on the roads. At Express Trailers we fully ac- knowledge that we have a duty of care towards the populace, the planet and all stakehold- ers as these are also our longer term investment that will make our company endure. There are other more vulnerable road us- ers namely runners and cyclists on Malta's roads. Therefore, sponsoring another athlete who for the past months has been training on our roads, is part of Express Trailers' at- tempt to redress the balance," concluded Franco Azzopardi.
