The lunchtime are fund raising events for the Franciscan Church, which is undergoing an extensive restoration project. NOVEMBER 11 Dvorak & Elgar Concert by Armenian cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan held at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta at 20:00. He will be performing Dvorak's Cello Concerto under the direction of acclaimed conductor Michalis Economou. The conductor's own composition 'Di-ichon', which follows, was re-arranged especially for this concert and is inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. NOVEMBER 11 Rejects Night at the Schosas Bodypainting Festival Evening of live music, food and (after)partying at the Magazino Hall, Valletta Waterfront. NOVEMBER 12 Mozart's Requiem Choral and orchestral concert of Mozart's Requiem held at Divine Mercy Sanctuary, Naxxar at 19:00. Featuring soloists Rosabelle Bianchi (soprano); Claire Massa (mezzo-soprano); Charles Vincenti (tenor); Albert Buttigieg (bass), under the direction of orchestra leader James Zammit, and director Hugo Agius Muscat and with organist Elisabeth Conrad. Admission free is free – there will be a collection in aid of the Divine Mercy Sanctuary. NOVEMBER 26, 27 Amor Annual production by Alegria Academia de Baile Flamenco at the Salesian Theatre, Sliema at 20:00 (November 26) and 19:30 (November 27). Based on the Maltese legend 'L-gharusa tal-Mosta', members of Alegria tell the story through flamenco dance. This event will be making a contribution towards Cancer Research through RIDT. EXHIBITIONS UNTIL NOVEMBER 25 Night Gallery: The Uncanny and the Sublime Exhibition of paintings by Susan Waitt at The Fortress Builders, St Mark Street, Valletta, themed around gothic and occult themes. UNTIL DECEMBER 16 Arbor Vitae Exhibition of paintings by Jeni Caruana at The Majjistral Nature and History Park, Ghajn Tuffieha. While the exhibition is on display Caruana will be hosting some events at the Majjistral Visitors Centre. These include an entertaining talk by the Chairman of the Park, Sammy Vella, followed by a guided walk. The exhibition will be open to the public daily from 10:00 to 15:00. PUBLIC LECTURES NOVEMBER 8 The Science of Ghosts A presentation on the possibility of spectral presences in the real world by Dr P. Oltergeist at the Fortress Builders Interpretation Centre, Valletta at 18:30. The speaker will be asking the question: 'What do Electro-Magnetism, Radio Transmissions, and Quantal Effects have to do with Ghosts?' NOVEMBER 8 Presenting Pasmore Public lecture by Dr Therese Vella on the art of Victor Pasmore at the Victor Pasmore Gallery, Central Bank of Malta, Valletta at 18:30. The lecture will feature the trail leading up to the 1970 exhibition at the Society of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce, as well as Pasmore's unique role as a curator in the 1990 'Artist's Eye' Exhibition held at the National Gallery in London, presenting us with the intriguing views of a modern abstract artist on the works of Leonardo, Piero della Francesca, Titian, Rembrandt and Turner besides other old masters. NATURE TOUR NOVEMBER 27 Nature Tours on Sundays Nature tour inviting the public to explore the rich biodiversity of Lippija, Għajn Tuffieħa, (Mġarr) organised by the Environment and Resources Authority. Transport will be provided and will leave from Floriana (in front of Phoenicia Hotel) at 09:00 and back at 12:30. The walks are graded 'difficult' due to steep clay hills. WHAT'S ON TONIGHT In Guardia Parade Historical re-enactment at Fort St Elmo Place, Valletta at 11:00. The re-enactment portrays the inspection of the fort and its garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John in charge of military affairs. During the re-enactment, of the fort's garrison - some 55 re-enactors in all - are kitted-out in their uniforms to perform their military drill to demonstrate to the Grand Bailiff its state of readiness. Tickets are at €7 for adults and €3 for children. Irbaht il-Lottu Original Maltese-language satire penned and directed by Mario Philip Azzopardi as part of Stagun Teatru Malti, held at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta at 19:00.
