maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 9 NOVEMBER 2016 7 News GourmetToday every Saturday 16.05pm on TVM states buoys Clinton vote rigging ready voted by the time polls opened. It was one of many states to see a surge in Hispanic voters, with 36% more of the population voting early in the election than had voted altogether in the 2012 election. In Ohio – another key swing state - thousands of people swamped county election board offices on Monday to take ad- vantage of the campaign's final early-voting hours, which were restricted by the Republican- controlled state legislature and Republican governor, John Ka- sich. Party affiliations of early vot- ers in Ohio have not been made public, but a decline in the per- centage who are African Ameri- can compared with 2012 gave Trump supporters cause for optimism that the Republican nominee would be able to clinch the state. Nevada judge turns down Trump protest Yesterday, a Nevada court judge denied a request from Trump's lawyers to issue an order direct- ing a county registrar of voters to preserve and separate ballots from voting machines in four early voting sites in Clark Coun- ty, Nevada. Trump lawyers asked for an order to have the pertinent early vote ballots not to be "co-min- gled or interspersed" after filing a lawsuit against the state of Ne- vada over the state allegedly de- cided to keep polling locations open beyond the designated closing time. The judge refused to issue an order in the case, saying that act could make the names of poll workers discoverable potentially leading to harassment. Polls in Nevada suggested a tight race between the two can- didates however, high turnout among registered democrats ap- peared to give Clinton the lead in the state. Rivals vote in New York Accompanied by her husband and former US President Bill Clinton, the former US Secretary of State was greeted by f lashing cameras at a school in Chappa- qua, New York. After filling out the ballot, Clinton, who hopes to make his- tory as the country's first female president, was overwhelmed by hugs and handshakes outside the polling station. "It is the most humbling feel- ing, because I know how much responsibility goes with this," Clinton told reporters after cast- ing her vote. Hours later, Trump arrived at his designated polling site in Manhattan, where more than 80 voters were lined up in the dark before voting opened at 6am. Asked whether he would con- cede if the networks called the election for Clinton, Trump said: "We'll see what happens." In recent weeks,Trump has re- peatedly said that he may not concede if he loses the vote, warning in unprecedented re- marks that the election could somehow be "rigged". On Tuesday afternoon, he told Fox News that if he lost, he would have to see "under what circum- stances" that happened before he could concede. "I have to look at what's happening," he said. Before Trump arrived, two top- less women protested inside the voting site, shouting: "Out of our polls, Trump, out of our polls, Trump!"
