Balzan responded a minute later through Anderson De Barros. The Brazilian attempted his luck from outside the penalty area with a pow- erful shot that ended up wide. On the 24th minute, Kevaun St. Michael Atkinson of Mosta saw his shot from a free kick going slightly wide of the post. Six minutes later, Alan Da Silva Souza went on a good run, but saw his finish going off target. Balzan went ahead on the 32nd minute. Following a quick counter attack, Da Silva Souza found Bojan Kaljevic who finished past Emma- nuel Bartolo. Five minutes later, Bartolo was on the alert to deny Balzan from scor- ing their second goal. Da Silva Sou- za fired a shot from the edge of the penalty area that forced a good save from the Mosta goalkeeper. Bartolo denied Da Silva Souza with another great save on the 42nd minute. The Brazilian fired a shot that looked destined for the net, but the Mosta goalkeeper showed his reflexes and parried the shot into a corner. Mosta had a golden opportunity to equalise on the 62nd minute. Njon- go Priso Doding went down the left flank and delivered a cross towards the unmarked Adrian Caruana. However, the Maltese defender sent his header slightly over the post. Balzan nearly doubled the score on the 72nd minute when Matteo Piciollo went inside the penalty area and hit a low shot that ended up just wide of the post. In the remaining minutes, Balzan managed to control their opponents to take home the three points. Citizens beat Sliema to keep pace with leaders Valletta kept the pace with Balzan after registering a 2-1 win over Sliema Wanderers. Federico Falcone managed to put Valletta ahead on the 62nd minute, while Lwelyn Cremona doubled the score eight minutes later. Mark Scerri reduced the margin of the score for Sliema on the 82nd minute.
