15 WHAT'S ON WHAT'S ON TODAY Valletta 1566 - Melita Renascens Exhibition by Heritage Malta in collaboration with Malta Libraries, commemorating the 450th anniversary since the laying of the first stone of the city of Valletta. Opens at the National Library and the former National War Museum at Lower Fort St. Elmo, between 9:00am to 6:00pm. Featuring work by Bridget Borg Alden, Charlene Agius, Luella Beck, Megan Borg and Stephanie Borg Cachia. Min Hi, Inez? An interactive transmedia installation and photography about dichotomies found in Anton Manwel Caruana's novel Ineż Farruġ. Ideologies of national identity, family notions, love, faith and religion will be questioned and reinterpreted in a fully immersive environment. Curated by Lisa Gwen Baldacchino and with the creative input of Elisa von Brockdorff and Pierre Portelli the project will include workshops especially devised for youths and interconnected with the installation and theatre project. Runs between 5 November and 18 December. MUSIC & NIGHTLIFE NOVEMBER 24-27 Kourelou live London-based jazz band that draws on Greek and Balkan sounds will be performing at the Jazz Cave, St George's Road, St Julian's at 20:30. NOVEMBER 25 Defiance featuring: X-Vandals, Bound to Prevail & Repugnance Night of extreme music at Razzett L-Ahmar, Mosta. The punk and metal bands X-Vandals, Bound to Prevail and Repugnance will be taking the stage from 20:00. Entrance is at €8. Organised by Rejects.com.mt. THEATRE & DANCE NOVEMBER 25-27 Hekuba Maltese-language production of the Euripides classic, Hekuba, at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta at 20:00 on November 25 and 26 and 19:00 on November 27. Directed by Josette Ciappara from a translation by Alfred Palma and featuring veteran actress Karmen Azzopardi in the lead role. The rest of the cast includes by Mario Micallef, Michael Tabone, Anthony Ellul, Alan Fenech, Lee-N Abela, André Mangion and Amanda Cachia. Bookings: bookings@ teatrumanoel.com.mt or 2124 6389. NOVEMBER 26, 27 Amor Annual production by Alegria Academia de Baile Flamenco at the Salesian Theatre, Sliema at 20:00 (November 26) and 19:30 (November 27). Based on the Maltese legend 'L-gharusa tal-Mosta', members of Alegria tell the story through flamenco dance. This event will be making a contribution towards Cancer Research through RIDT. EXHIBITIONS UNTIL NOVEMBER 25 Night Gallery: The Uncanny and the Sublime Exhibition of paintings by Susan Waitt at The Fortress Builders, St Mark Street, Valletta, themed around gothic and occult themes. UNTIL DECEMBER 16 Arbor Vitae Exhibition of paintings by Jeni Caruana at The Majjistral Nature and History Park, Ghajn Tuffieha. While the exhibition is on display Caruana will be hosting some events at the Majjistral Visitors Centre. These include an entertaining talk by the Chairman of the Park, Sammy Vella, followed by a guided walk. The exhibition will be open to the public daily from 10:00 to 15:00. BOOK LAUNCH NOVEMBER 25 Documentary Sources of Maltese History Book launch of the Malta University Press publication 'Documentary Sources of Maltese History Part III: Documents of the Maltese Universitas No. 3: Acta Juratorum et Consilii Civitatis et Insulae Maltae, II 1512- 1531, (Malta, 2016)', compiled, transcribed, and edited by Prof. Stanley Fiorini. Taking place at the Inquisitor's Palace, Birgu at 18:30. The launch will feature interventions by Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, Prof Henry Frendo and Judge Giovanni Bonello. Organised in collaboration with the Notarial Archives Resource Council. NATURE TOUR NOVEMBER 27 Nature Tours on Sundays Nature tour inviting the public to explore the rich biodiversity of Lippija, Għajn Tuffieħa, (Mġarr) organised by the Environment and Resources Authority. Transport will be provided and will leave from Floriana (in front of Phoenicia Hotel) at 09:00 and back at 12:30. The walks are graded 'difficult' due to steep clay hills.
