maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 23 NOVEMBER 2016 17 Events Emirates offers LinkedIn Learning courses on ice EMIR ATES has partnered with LinkedIn to provide select LinkedIn Learning courses on ice, its award-winning inf light entertainment (IFE) system. Emirates is the first interna- tional airline to make these courses available on board. The new offering on ice is available from this month and is part of Emirates' continued commitment to providing new and diverse IFE content. The free expert-led LinkedIn Learn- ing courses range from 20 min- utes to over 2 hours long and cover topics such as Leadership, General Management, Market- ing, and Creative Lifestyle. The courses feature high- quality, personally curated and easily digestible information to cater to varying interests and profiles of customers on board. Among the featured content are courses such as Manag- ing Stress and Learning from Failure by Todd Dewett, TEDx speaker, writer and coach in the leadership and life skills space. For those looking to improve their photography skills just before landing at their holi- day destination, David Hobby, photographer and author of the Strobist.com lighting blog, hosts two courses - The Trave- ling Photographer: Dubai and The Traveling Photographer: London for quick tips and tricks. The LinkedIn Learning cours- es will be regularly updated to include new topics. This year, Emirates clinched its 12th consecutive World's Best Inf light Entertainment award at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. The courses complement the current IFE offering of up to 2,600 on-de- mand entertainment channels including the latest blockbuster movies, award-winning televi- sion series, dedicated children's entertainment, a huge music li- brary and seat back games. Currently, 85% of Emirates' f leet is equipped with free Wi- Fi on board, including all A380 aircraft. In addition, 108 air- craft are equipped with live TV, which has up to nine channels of live news and sport. Emirates operates daily sched- uled f lights between Malta and Dubai on a Boeing 777-300 aircraft. Emirates f lies twice weekly to Malta, on Mondays and Wednesdays, via Larnaca in Cyprus, and on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays the airline oper- ates the Dubai - Malta route on a circular routing via Tunis in Tunisia. The return f light f lies direct from Malta to Dubai. Emirates offers LinkedIn Learning on ice EY Malta to host IFRS update seminar 2016 EY Malta will once again be hold- ing the annual Financial Report- ing Update event on the 30th No- vember, at the Hilton. A range of presentations will be delivered by EY specialists in the Assurance service line all aimed at keeping stakeholders up to speed with re- cent developments in IFRS, local accountancy profession regula- tions and recent changes to the local Companies Act. Christopher Balzan, EY Malta Executive Director in Assur- ancesaid: "As key players in the sector, we consider this event as a game changer, an oppor- tunity to keep our clients and stakeholders abreast of upcom- ing changes in international fi- nancial reporting standards and interpretations. The event will throw a spotlight on key issues arising from such standards and their implementation. We will also cover the requirements of the General Accounting Princi- ples for Small and Medium sized entities (GAPSME) which kicked in 1 January 2016 and highlight recent changes made to the lo- cal Companies Act as part of the transposition of the Single Ac- counting Directive in Maltese Law."
