maltatoday, SUNDAY, 4 DECEMBER 2016 II Christmas Christmas in Mellieħa 2016 Christmas at The Priory THE Mellieħa Local Council will be organising its annual activity 'Christmas in Mellieħa' between Thursday 8th December and Tuesday 13th December 2016. This activity, organised with the support of the Malta Tourism Authority and the local com- mercial community, will see the peak of activities held in Misraħ iż-Żjara tal-Papa from 19:30 onwards. This year's edition will be inaugurated at the Manikata Parish Church on Thursday 8th December 2016. A concert by Joy Gospel Singers will be held for the opening of this activity as well as for the inauguration of yet another EU project. In fact the Mellieħa Local Council has once again succeeded in obtain- ing funds to be the lead partner in an EU project which envisages the organisation of five confer- ences spread over 18 months. This project, with a budget of €150,000, will focus on small enterprises in the heart of the Union's economy. The following days all activities related to Christmas in Mellieħa will be organised at Misraħ iż- Żjara tal-Papa Ġwanni Pawli II. The activity will be organised in a form of a small Christmas village from where various typical Mal- tese and Christmas products will be sold by local NGOs. All stalls will be open at 19:00 and will see a full programme of activities from the best local talent as well as international artists. The Għaqda Korali and Orkes- trali Maria Bambina, Società Filarmonica La Vittoria and Malcolm & Band will be offer- ing a musical spectacle on Friday 9th December 2016. The Red Hackled Pipe Band will be closing the show for the day. A danc- ing spectacle will be offered by Artemocion on the following day followed by other musical per- formances this time by Għaqda Mużikali Imperial and JAMM Band together with other local singers. Various local participants will be performing the following day with the popular Animae Gospel Choir closing the evening. Monday 12th December 2016 will see the participation of the Big Friends Guggen Musik, danc- ing school Street Elements and Brooke & Band. Participants will also include foreign participa- tion. On this day the council will also organise a Christmas party for the residents of the home 'Dar il-Madonna tal-Mellieħa' at 09:30. The much anticipated children's party will be held on 13th December 2016 at 14:00 at the Community Hall, Mellieħa Primary School. All children interested to attend are invited to register their participation with the staff of the Mellieħa Local Council. There will be various initiatives including dancing, art and crafts exhibitions and life crib prepared by children during these activi- ties. Also sale of typical foods and drinks synonymous with the festive season will be for sale to be enjoyed by the general public. Everyone is invited to attend this Christmas activity organised by the Mellieħa Local Council. Entrance is free of charge. Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar invite booking for a Christmas Concert and dinner at The Priory of St Mark in Rabat • Ponsiettas will be on sale to help support FAA's undertaking to restore priceless four-panel altarpiece THE Priory of St Mark in Rabat will be opening for a Christmas concert and dinner being organised by Flinkien ghal Ambjent Ah- jar (FAA) on 12 December. The evening is set to kick off with a repertoire of Christmas music, for which FAA teamed up with the Johann Strauss School of Music Malta to present some of its best student-performers study- ing voice, woodwind and contemporary music. A varied selection of mu- sic will be presented rang- ing from early Baroque to contemporary arrange- ments with a Christmas theme. Following the concert, guests will be invited into the magnificent Priory built by Andrea Belli in 1740, where welcome drinks and canapes will be served on arrival. Guests will then enjoy a delicious four-course Christmas meal by Bart Saive Caterers in the cloister. FAA is undertaking the restoration of a unique late medieval four-panel altar- piece, in order to ensure that this priceless work of art, described as "one of the most important art treasures in Malta" due to its rarity and fine quality, continues to be enjoyed by future generations.
