42 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 11 DECEMBER 2016 APS continues restructuring of its banking team APS Bank has announced a number of appointments to its Retail and Commercial Banking teams. Aaron Mifsud and Mario Gau- ci have been appointed Senior Managers overseeing the Retail and Commercial arms. Lana Degiorgio, Alexia Bonanno Cesare, Arnold Buttigieg and Sinclair Cassar were promoted to Managers of Attard, Sliema, Mosta and Floriana branches respectively, while Sharon Mal- lia moves to the management of Birkirkara Branch. Antonella Curmi and Dorothy Sammut continue to lead Gozo and Paola branches. Qormi, Zejtun and Rabat Mini Branches are now under the leadership of James Flores, Tanya Borg and Amanda Mizzi, respectively. Stephanie Attard, Jeremy Noah Agius, Daniel Borg and Daniel Bonnici join Joseanne Gauci and Ray Brockdorff as relationship managers within the Bank's strengthened Com- mercial Centre which now also includes an MSME emphasis. Bernard Grech leads the Trade Finance section whilst Charles Massa manages the Loan Ad- ministration Unit. "We are confident that the changes will increase value to our customers, consolidating experience, efficiency and pro- fessionalism of service. Seven of ten branch managers are now females, something we are espe- cially proud of. I wish all my col- leagues well in their new roles," commented Anthony Buttigieg, Head of Banking at APS Bank. Launched in 1986 in the US with just one award, as of this year has mushroomed to twenty- five programs spread across the US and sixty other countries in- cluding France, India, Germany, Italy, the Philippines, the United States, South Africa, Canada, Switzerland, China, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Kenya and Australia. The diversity of winners is one of the key EoY hallmarks. Past winners have come from retail and consumer products; technol- ogy; family business; emerging; energy, chemical and mining; food products and services; real estate, hospitality, and construc- tion; financial services; digital media; and transformational. This year the winner was Man- ny Stul who was born in a refu- gee camp and gone on to become a global player in the world toy market. He took over a small business called Moose in 2000 and in 15 years increased sales by 7,200 per cent, making it the sixth-biggest toy brand in the America. Every year each of the overall country winners meet in Monaco to pick the EY World Entrepre- neur of the Year Award. The inde- pendent judging panel is made up of distinguished business leaders and former award winners. All country winners are inducted in- to the World Entrepreneur of the Year Academy and to the Entre- preneur of the Year Hall of Fame, on permanent display at EY's US headquarters in Times Square, New York City. Ristorante La Vela wins Best Overall Restaurant in Malta award The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants Awards Cer- emony sponsored by HSBC and Global Payments held at The Grand Hotel Excelsior on Mon- day 5th December celebrated the outstanding achievement of Malta & Gozo's top survey rated restaurants as voted by diners out who participated in the Mal- ta & Gozo Restaurant Survey online at w w w.restaurantsmal- ta.com Based on popular vote only 150 restaurants make it to be included in the latest 2017 edition of The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta & Gozo and its official portal w w w.restaurantsmalta. com The results were revealed by Lisa Grech Managing Director of the Definitive(ly) Good Guide Co and presented by Mr To- nio Mallia from HSBC, Mr Ray Zammit from Global Payments and Mr Mark Ciantar of Conti- nental Purchasing on behalf of Villeroy & Boch who supplied the beautiful commemorative award plates for the occasion. This year's Malta & Gozo Restaurant Survey conducted in September 2016 returned an incredibly high number of responses, with 2,074 partici- pants who dined out on average 2 times per week equivalent to a total of 215,696 dining expe- riences in a year! This year sees 27 new restaurants in the The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta & Gozo and w w w.restaurantsmalta.com which was also launched on the evening. Award restaurants were cho- sen from the highest rated res- taurants, both overall, and in the various price categories for Malta and Gozo, taking into ac- count not only the Overall rat- ing but also individual Food, Service and Ambience ratings, the number of people rating, value for money, comments and other data from the sur- vey.
