"The Child Savings Plan addresses the savings needs of customers during the first important stage in the lifecycle journey. It features a compelling value proposition that addresses the need to save towards a child's future goals and aspirations. Fur- thermore, the new product fea- tures a straightforward structure both in terms of the benefits it of- fers and also in terms of the pric- ing structure." The Mapfre MSV Life Child Sav- ings Plan is a With Profits savings product aimed at helping indi- viduals to start saving on a regular basis by linking to goals in their child's future. New CEO for the Malta Institute of Accountants THE Malta Institute of Account- ants (MIA), the largest profes- sional organisation on the island, has just appointed Maria Cauchi Delia as its new Chief Executive Officer. Maria Cauchi Delia brings on board years of managerial knowl- edge, particularly in accounts and finance; prior to her appoint- ment as CEO, she served as MIA's Financial Controller and in the past, she held senior positions with APS Consult Ltd. (a subsidi- ary of APS bank), the Medicines Authority, the National Audit Office and at Ernst & Young, both in Malta and Italy. With these credentials and a wealth of experience in project manage- ment, consultancy and financial audits, she was the perfect choice to take the helm of this inf luen- tial organisation. Maria describes the accountan- cy industry as dynamic and tran- sitional. Her wish is to focus on repositioning and rebranding the MIA to ref lect this, not just with its members, but also with the public at large. Malta has a short- fall of qualified accountants and, to meet the growing demands of the f lourishing economy, en- gagement and relationship build- ing with new stakeholders are at the forefront of her activities. When asked what she thought the main challenges facing ac- countants in Malta were, Maria said that today the accountancy profession was going through an exciting time, where being profi- cient in the financial aspects was definitely not enough to succeed. "Having a multidisciplinary ap- proach in a complex, ever-chang- ing work environment is es- sential. To remain effective and competitive on the market, cli- ents' demands need to be antici- pated. True professionals have to be proficient in managing risk as- sessment, tax and legal matters, human resources and informa- tion management," she said. In terms of her vision for MIA, Maria spoke of her mission to enhance the services provided to MIA's members and, in this regard, she intends to strengthen the organisation's drive to build bridges with existing and new stakeholders. Maria graduated with a Bach- elor of Accountancy (Honours) degree from the University of Malta in 2001. She went on to be- come a Certified Public Account- ant and also obtained a Practic- ing Certificate in Auditing. Her work experience has seen her undergoing a variety of respon- sibilities ranging from the set-up, management nd coordination of quality systems, to planning, managing and reporting on nu- merous public-sector systems audits. On a personal level, Maria en- joys the engaging and exciting as- pects of her work, but when she is not at the office, she loves noth- ing more than spending time with her husband and two young children, travelling, reading and enjoying long walks in the coun- tryside. "The best part of my job is working in an ever-changing work environment where excel- lence, innovation, honesty, and integrity are a key part of my day-to-day work," concluded the MIA's new CEO. Century 21 Platinum opens its doors CENTURY 21 Malta has just launched its third franchise of- fice on the island. Owned by Mr Jan Pisani, Century 21 Platinum is the newly set up Century 21 office in St Julian's. Caught in between the prospects of opt- ing for a totally new real-estate agency or one that is already well-known locally and inter- nationally, Mr Pisani got capti- vated by the prospect of enjoying the benefits an internationally renowned real-estate agency has to offer. Having found comfort in an established database of properties and a fully f ledged marketing support system, Mr Pisani was only left with the need to find a strategic location, refurbish it to the highest stand- ards, and set up a new network of agents. Century 21 Platinum may be the most recent Century 21 fran- chised broker office on the is- lands, but its team is determined from the start to promote the Century 21 ethos; that of nurtur- ing customers whilst delivering a positive real estate transaction experience. Enhanced engines need expert hands H ARLEYDAVIDSON is all about improvement, styling, torque and feel. The New Mil- waukee Eight; the 9th Harley engine in history, has just been rolled out. While retaining its classic 45-degree V-Twin cylin- der angle, the Milwaukee eight now produces 10 percent more torque while featuring four- valve per cylinder, each offering 50 % more intake and exhaust f low capacity. Such technical enhancements require qualified mechanical personnel who possess the tech- nical know-how and expertise to deal with them. That is why Fapi Motors have just had their motorcycle mechanic, Ryan Mi- callef, attend a training course covering the new technical fea- tures of the all new Milwaukee- Eight engine. Entitled 'My New Product Trasining', this course provided service technicians with the opportunity to disas- semble and rebuild bench en- gines, learn about service pro- cedures and learn the ropes of service wear limits of this new powertrain. Ryan Micallef also had the op- portunity to attend the 305 Mid- dleweight Powertrain, where he performed a complete dismantle of both a Sportster and a Revo- lution X engine to assess the condition of components and determine whether they are to be reused, serviced or replaced. He assembled the engine and performed all timing, alignment adjustments and assembly test- ing as described in the service manual. Fapi Motors is the local dis- tributor of the Harley-Davidson motorbikes in Malta. Send an email to info@FapiMotors.com or visit the showroom in Mdina Road, Attard, for further details.
