15 WHAT'S ON WHAT'S ON TODAY David Bowie is … First released in 2013, the David Bowie Is.. documentary film takes the audience on a journey through the exhibition accompanied by special guests, to explore the stories behind some of the key objects which document Bowie's artistic career. The curators, Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh also provide expert insight into the most memorable music videos and original costumes, as well as more personal items such as, the never- seen-before handwritten lyrics, album cover artwork, set designs and diary entries which reveal the creativity and evolution of Bowie's ideas. Screening at St James Cavalier, at 8:00pm Kids Dig Science Six puppet shows, each delving into the world of science while engaging the children. A workshop follows each show, allowing children a hands-on experience of science using their artistic skills, creativity and curious minds. Venue: Studios A and B at St James Cavalier. Price: €5 for children, €7 for adults. Does Dark Matter? A lecture by astrophysicist Dr Joseph Caruana of the Department of Physics at Institute of Space Sciences and Astronomy at the University of Malta, exploring the effects of light pollution on nature, health and scientific endeavour. Exhibition held at Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier, Valletta presented by Fabrizio Ellul and dealing with the consequences of terrorism on communities in Europe. The exhibition is divided into three parts: an installation of digital drawings, a video installation, and a panel discussion. The panel discussion will be held on January 25 and is being moderated by Mark Micallef. An artist talk on February 3 will conclude the project in which the artist, Fabrizio Ellul, discusses potential future projects based on the theme of European communities. The exhibition is curated by Matthew Attard. UNTIL FEBRUARY 26 Snuff Boxes: From Accessories to Objets d'Art Exhibition of historic snuff boxes at Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum, Mdina. Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 16:30. The exhibition brings together two hundred snuff boxes and related artefacts, sourced from museum, ecclesiastical and never- seen-before private collections in a show that charts the history of the snuff box from the most stunning examples to the variety of boxes that were created to hold the once precious powder, snuff. MISCELLANEOUS JANUARY 18 A Poet in Strada Stretta: Ruzar Briffa Evening dedicated to Maltese poet Ruzar Briffa at Strait Street, Valletta at 20:00, organised by Strada Stretta Concept under the artistic direction of Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci. Featuring a number of participants who will be reading poems from the collection of Briffa, including the poem, 'Vjolin Marid' where a direct reference to Strada Stretta (Triq il-Baħrin) is made. Participants include: Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci, Victoria Pisani, Jesmond Sharples, Adrian Grima, Rita Saliba, Victor Fenech, Joe Borg and Emel Hasanoglu. The event is being held in collaboration with the Akkademja tal-Malti, L-Għaqda tal-Malti – Università and the Maltese Department - University of Malta. JANUARY 20-22 Malta Global Game Jam Annual video-game creation challenge at the Institute of Digital Games, University of Malta at 14:00. Participants will be challenged to create a board or video game in 48 hours. The Global Game Jam® (GGJ) is the world's largest game jam event (game creation) taking place around the world at physical locations.
