maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 11 JANUARY 2017 17 Events Central Bank launches 2017 Numismatic Coin Programme THE Central Bank of Malta is launching its Numismatic Coin Programme for 2017 which in- cludes the following products: • A silver numismatic coin com- memorating the Maltese presiden- cy of the Council of the EU which Malta assumes this month. This will be the first time that Malta is assuming the presidency and this silver coin will be marking this historic occasion. The coin is ex- pected to be issued this month. • A gold and silver numismatic coin issued under the Europa Coin Programme, which in 2017 will carry the theme 'the Age of Iron and Glass'. The Maltese coins will feature a detail of the conservatory constructed in the Argotti Botanic Gardens. Unfortunately this im- pressive iron and glass structure no longer exists. These coins are expected to be issued in March. • A euro coin set dated 2017 con- sisting of the eight Maltese euro circulation coins together with a €2 commemorative coin, which is the second in a series of seven coins featuring Maltese prehistor- ic structures that are listed as UN- ESCO World Heritage Sites. This set is expected to be issued in June. • A €2 commemorative coin fea- turing the Ħaġar Qim temples. This will be the second in a series of seven coins featuring Maltese prehistoric structures that are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The coin will be issued in rolls of 25 coins each as well as in- dividually in coin cards. This coin is expected to be issued in July. • A silver numismatic coin, com- memorating the 75th anniversary of Operation Pedestal, which is better known as the 'Santa Maria' Convoy. This coin will pay trib- ute to an important milestone in Malta's fight for survival during the Second World War. This coin is expected to be issued in August. • A €2 commemorative coin fea- turing the winning design of a competition that will be open to secondary school students, the theme for 2017 being 'Peace'. The coin will be issued in rolls of 25 coins each as well as individually in coin cards. This coin is expect- ed to be issued in November. EY's Entrepreneur of the Year Malta judges announced IMAGINE meeting Bill Ford, the executive chairman of the Ford Motor Company and getting his insights into the business world of today and tomorrow – with EY's ini- tiative to bring to Malta the World Entrepreneur of the Year, such an opportunity can be within reach – Bill Ford was only one of the star guests at the event. For the last three decades, EY's Entrepreneur of the Year has gone from strength to strength and is now held in over 60 countries. With the event now coming to Malta, local entrepreneurs and businesses will have a unique chance to compete to represent their country at the global competition held every year in Mo- naco. The global finals of the awards are now widely recognized as the benchmark for identifying the best up and coming entrepreneurs in the world. EY Malta has launched its Entrepreneur of the Year competi- tion, with applications open until 20 February, 2017. The Maltese winner will be announced in March and will join a group of over 120 entrepreneurs in Monaco in June to compete for EY's World Entrepreneur of the Year award. The event is considered to be one of the world's most prestigious net- working events. We at EY are proud that this initia- tive is already endorsed by some of the most prominent stakeholders in various sectors. The judging panel features: Joseph A. Gasan, chairman, Gasan Group Limited Anton Borg, president Malta Chamber of Com- merce, Enterprise and Industry Bernice Mizzi, director Chiswick House School and St Martin's Col- lege Joseph Portelli, chairman, Malta Stock Exchange plc Juanito Camilleri, Professor, University of Malta Joseph Gasan is the chairman of Gasan Group Limited and several companies constituting the Gasan Group. He assumed the running of the Group in 1971, spearheading an expansion and diversification pro- gramme which moved it to the cen- tre stage of Malta's business scene. Anton Borg is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Association of Certified Account- ants in the UK. Becoming a member of the Malta Institute of Account- ants in 1985, he sat on the council for 14 years, serving as president for two years in 1997. Bernice Mizzi has served in edu- cational institutions throughout her entire life. For over 35 years she has led Chis- wick House School and St Martin's College with vision and drive. She is also the co-founder of EC, a global English Language School. Joseph Portelli is chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange and has been a director of Malta Stock Exchange Plc. since June 17, 2013. Juanito Camilleri is chairman and Professor at the Centre for Entre- preneurship and Business Incuba- tion at the University of Malta. Prof. Camilleri served as Rector of the University of Malta between 2006 and 2016. NMi Gaming appoints head of penetration and vulnerability testing services THE market leading compliance testing and au- diting lab, NMi Gaming, has announced the ap- pointment of Andrés Méndez as head of Penetra- tion and Vulnerability Testing Services within their Business Security team. Andrés, who will be based in Spain, joins NMi's highly successful business security and auditing team, who are responsible for contributing to NMI's success in the field of security, auditing and PCI testing services. Simon Fowler, Business Security Manager, said: "As we journey with our most successful custom- ers through a number of challenging regulatory landscapes, the demand for global standards is clear: regulators do not want to reinvent the wheel.
