45 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 12 FEBRUARY 2017 RE/MAX agents attend European convention in Rome Over 1,200 Re/Max delegates con- verged to the Auditorium Con- ciliazione in Rome for the 2016 RE/MAX European Convention. Among them were 45 of the top lo- cal agents currently working in RE/ MAX offices in Malta. The exclusive convention, which is now in its eighth edition, has be- come a very popular event within the annual RE/MAX international calendar. Each year, organisers put together a jam-packed agenda of events, with leading global speakers who coach and motivate all of the attending agents and broker own- ers. There are also events and talks to update agents on the very latest trends and techniques emerging from the global real estate industry. This year's agenda included talks by the world's 'Number One' leader in real estate Tom Ferry, internet entrepreneur Brad Inman, conduc- tor and Grammy-winner Christian Gansch and RE/MAX Europe CEO and managing director Michael Polzler. Workshops and talks were hosted on a variety of key topics, including industry trends and inno- vation, winning strategies for buyer and seller, lead generation, and set- ting the stage for next generation leadership. Other highlights in- cluded the spectacular gala dinner and show hosted at the historic Villa Miani on Rome's Via Trionfale. "This year's agenda was fantastic," says RE/MAX Malta COO Jeff Butt- igieg. "It is a reflection of what sets RE/MAX apart in this industryboth on a national and international level. Interacting with the best industry professionals such as Tom Ferry and Michael Polzler and bringing that knowledge back to Malta to inject into the industry here is a huge ad- vantage." The legacy of past RE/MAX Eu- ropean Conventions has certainly been felt in the local industry, with many attending agents returning more motivated than ever, with new ideas, international leads and an ever-growing portfolio of skills. "This convention is exactly what RE/MAX is all about – sharing ex- periences, learning new things, and ensuring we meet and exceed the highest possible standards. This ap- proach is unique to RE/MAX and we are very proud to be a part of it," All new Toyota C-HR hits Maltese roads in February Toyota might be late to the boom- ing crossover market but its pa- tience rewards us with a virtuous, up-to-the-minute machine with a distinctly European focus. The Debono Group launched the lat- est addition to the Toyota family on Thursday, at an exclusive even- ing held at the Toyota showroom in Zebbug, which this year is cel- ebrating its tenth anniversary since its inauguration. In his opening statement Patrick Clarke, General Manager for Mi- chael Debono Ltd –Toyota, Malta, highlighted that it was Toyota that effectively created the crosso- ver segment when it launched the RAV4 in 1994; and while that mod- el has gradually grown in size, its increase has carved a perfect niche for Toyota's latest take on the cross- over market – the all-new C-HR. Rarely has a production car looked so indistinguishable from a motor show concept, all sharp creases, complex curvatures and diamond-shape motifs. But while C-HR's appearance has been led by fresh design – hence its stand- out combination of coupe and SUV styling cues – beneath the surface lies a new Toyota platform devel- oped to be safe, spacious and unex- pectedly dynamic. Multiple facets are found inside the C-HR, too. Thoughtful, ergo- nomic design focuses the dash- board around the driver, who is also offered a seating position that feels sporting and encompassing without losing the commanding perspective you would expect of a crossover. Meanwhile, the layered architecture and attractive blue trace line extending the width of the cabin gives it an airy, intercon- nected feel. Premium materials are used throughout the interior; in fact, the only thing not at a premium is space. Five adventure-seeking adults and their associated activity wear can be easily contained with- in… as, of course, can regular fami- lies dreaming of a glossy-brochure lifestyle. Keeping everybody safe inside is a suite of advanced Toyota Safety Sense technologies, which, like a guardian angel, will advise you of current conditions, warn of im- pending dangers, and even miti- gate immediate threats. All other Toyota vehicles equipped with this latest technology have received five-star Euro NCAP scores, so we should expect nothing less of the C-HR. As a benefit of sharing its plat- form with the new Prius, the C- HR is available with Toyota's latest generation hybrid technology – a petrol-electric powertrain that is expected to be the most popular choice among buyers. And you can understand why that is the case, with combined miles per gallon in the mid-70s and a CO2 output that should allow owners to cruise blissfully past any bouncers stand- ing at the gates to European cities. An alternative powerplant is Toy- ota's new 1.2-litre turbocharged and direct-injection petrol engine. Wide-angle valve technology al- lows the engine to switch imper- ceptibly between power and parsi- monious engine cycles, while a new rev-matching system automatically blips the throttle between gear- shifts to make the driver feel even more heroic. The Toyota C-HR is a car that appeals to the head as well as the heart. It excites on an aesthetic level for being so audaciously – and attractively – designed yet con- tinues to draw admiration as you discover that its beauty is far more than skin-deep.
