maltatoday, SUNDAY, 26 FEBRUARY 2017 Events 43 Emirates, Skytrax's World's Best Airline 2016, will launch a series of new cabin products and en- hancements in 2017 for both its A380 and Boeing 777 f leet. The multi-million dollar cabin interiors upgrade programme includes an enhanced Onboard Lounge for its f lagship Airbus A380 aircraft. Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline said: "The A380 Onboard Lounge is hugely popular with our customers, and has become an iconic feature of Emirates' A380 offering. Since we first launched the product in 2008, our A380 Onboard Lounge has gone through small but suc- cessive enhancements in line with customer feedback to in- crease the amount of space for our customers to interact in the lounge." The new Emirates A380 On- board Lounge will make its first public appearance at the Emirates Infinite Possibilities stand dur- ing ITB Berlin, one of the world's largest tourism trade fairs. It is currently being installed onto one of Emirates' brand new A380 aircraft at Airbus' facilities, and will make its operational de- but in July 2017. Enhanced Emirates A380 Onboard Lounge Features While retaining the trademark horseshoe-shaped bar, Emirates' latest A380 Onboard Lounge will offer more seating space with a new seating arrangement along the windows on both sides of the bar. Inspired by private yacht cab- ins, each seating area will have a table and window view. Overall, the lounge can com- fortably accommodate up to 26 passengers at a time, including 8 seated. Emirates will also introduce soundproof curtains to partition the Onboard Lounge area from the other cabins, put in additional soft ambient lighting options, new window blinds with integrated LED mood lighting, and subwoof- ers for surround sound. The lounge also features a 55 inch LCD screen so customers can view the latest flight information, or enjoy live TV broadcasts of the latest news or sports updates. All of Emirates' 93 A380s cur- rently in service feature the On- board Lounge. The enhanced lounge product will be similarly located on the upper deck of the aircraft, for First and Business Class passengers. Emirates flies the A380 to 46 cities on 5 continents. It is the world's largest operator of the A380 aircraft with 93 of these double-decked aircraft in service, and a further 49 on order. Tes- timony to the popularity of the aircraft amongst travellers, Emir- ates has carried nearly 70 million passengers on its flagship aircraft since 2008. Emirates operates daily sched- uled flights between Malta and Dubai via Larnaca, Cyprus, on a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The airline is currently offer- ing special Economy Class fares on a selection of Emirates des- tinations, including Larnaca starting from €143, all inclu- sive. Tickets can be booked and purchased by 28 February 2017. Launched at Pub 17, the only dedicated show for the UK pub in- dustry, held at Olympia, London, Cisk Lager is expected to be rolled out this year at a number of lead- ing trade outlets across the UK. Michael Farrugia, Chief Busi- ness Development Officer stated that, "Our participation at Pub 17 was an important platform for us to present Cisk to the trade in association with our partners Morgenrot plc, who are the oldest established importers of beers and wines in Manchester with local and national distribution. The oc- casion marked an important turn- ing point in our continued drive to penetrate the UK market with a credible and well respected UK distributor, with whom we expect to grow the brand and deliver on our vision to expand our interna- tional base." John Critchley, Morgenrot's Commercial Director, added, "We are very pleased with the trade response to Cisk at Pub17 and the high level of brand recall, which affirms our confidence that together with Farsons' brewing expertise and our own on-trade experience and national coverage, we can make a success of Cisk La- ger in the UK." This latest development into the UK market follows Cisk Lager's and Farsons' beers availability on Amazon UK, which continues to drive brand awareness and avail- ability for those consumers wish- ing to have Farsons' beers deliv- ered directly to their doorstep. In its ongoing efforts to help the general public reduce waste and increase its waste separation ef- forts, the Ministry for Sustain- able Development, the Environ- ment and Climate Change has rolled out a new mobile applica- tion. Through the app a user can search for a particular item or product and the app will give in- formation on how to dispose of it correctly. It will also include a collection calendar which will al- low the user to see all collection times and dates for organic, recy- clable and residual waste in every locality. A detailed map that highlights the location of bring-In sites, civic amenity sites and other waste facilities and services that are available to the general public may also be accessed. All this at the touch of a button! This app will also allow users to receive notifications based on individual interests and needs. Minister Jose Herrera launched the application at MCAST, fol- lowing collaboration from stu- dents studying mobile applica- tion design who gave their insight and feedback during the testing phase. Some students who par- ticipated in the testing were also present at the launch to demon- strate the features of the app. "This initiative will support Government's continuous ef- forts to make waste management as easy as possible for everyone. Although the past year has seen a reduction in the total waste that is disposed in the black bag and an increase in waste disposed in the recycling bag, much remains to be done and with everyone's help we will be in a better posi- tion to reach our waste related targets and have a better environ- ment" stated Minister Herrera. The Don't Waste Waste app encourages the correct disposal of all waste items through infor- mation on collection services and facilities available for waste man- agement. It will also list upcoming rel- evant events and includes a form which will enable anyone to send in questions and queries. It is available for download from both the Apple iStore and the Google Play Store.
