McLaren endured a troubled first half to last week 's running, having to undertake power unit changes on successive days, be- fore enjoying smoother running across the final two days of ac- tion. Vandoorne managed to com- plete 34 laps in the MCL32 as testing resumed on Tuesday morning at the Circuit de Bar- celona-Catalunya, before an- other problem was discovered. "We detected an electrical is- sue with the power unit in Stof- fel 's car," a Honda spokesperson confirmed. "In the interest of maximising track time, we opted to replace it and investigate the issue fur- ther once the power unit is out of the car. "The power unit we are using today is the same spec as the power unit run last week as test one." Vandoorne finished eighth quickest in the morning ses- sion. AVINTIA rider Héctor Barberá will miss the upcoming MotoGP group test in Qatar following his training crash, in which he fractured his collarbone. Barberá suffered the fracture last week and underwent suc- cessful surgery, but the recovery time means he will not be able to participate in the final three- day session, which begins on Friday. "The injury came at the worst time, and I won't be taking part in the next test in Qatar," Bar- berá said. "It doesn't make sense to run the risk given the first race is so soon – it's better to recover completely to arrive ready. "After the problems we've had during pre-season this is the worst thing that could have hap- pened, but we have to stay posi- tive because I'll be okay by the time the championship starts." Qatar's season-opener takes place on March 26.
