22 maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 22 MARCH 2017 Sport FOOTBALL Fifth ASMK Autocross next Sunday ON Sunday 26 March 2017 Assoċjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi will continue their activ- ities in the Sports Complex at Ta' Qali. ASMK will be holding the fifth event of the 2016/2017 Na- tional Autocross Championship sponsored by ASMK and Pasta Pasta which includes the Stand- ard and Modified Cars Classes. The event starts at noon. An overview of the Autocross rankings shows. In the National Championship classification of the Modified Class, Gordon John- son on his Opel Corsa has built an advantage over the rest as he has already won three wins from the first four activities already carried out. Johnson is occupy- ing the top end of the standings with 99 points and is followed by the Opel Corsa of Philip Joe Vella with 87 points. In third place we find Karl Micallef on his Ford Fiesta while fourth place is occu- pied by Terence Azzopardi on his Opel Corsa with 64 points. In the Class B for Modified cars we find the Fiat Punto of Noel Zammit leading highest ranking with 17 points followed by Keith Borg on a Vauxhall Nova with 12 points. In third place we find Melo Zammit and Terence Azzo- pardi both on a Opel Corsa with 10 points each. In the Autocross Standard Class there is high competition between four competitors. Ian Fenech on his Citroen AX is lead- ing the standings with 30 points and is followed by the Citroen AX of Deane Farrugia with 27 points. Third placed Karl Scicluna is on a Peugeot 106 with 23 points while fourth placed Nicovich Chircop drives a Peugeot 206 with 22 points. Meanwhile, on Sunday 19th March 2017 ASMK organized the fourth event of the National Enduro Championship. For this event the Association crossed to the island of the Three Hills where in the quarry named 'Tal- Qassis' l/o Hondoq ir-Rummien, ASMK formed a track for Enduro motorcycles. This was a 3 kilom- eters long track and 16 competi- tor made it on location. For this the Association would like to officially thank for the sup- port and cooperation foumd by the Qala Local Council especially by the Mayor Perit Clint Camill- eri, Transport Malta, the Min- istry for Gozo, the Gozo Sports Board and the Planning Author- ity. The activity was sponsored by Pasta Poiatti and sapported by Dunlop brand tires including the Gas Gas motorcycles brand. Meanwhile slight overview of the day where we had the fol- lowing results. During the Pole Position runs we saw Bernard Sammut on a KTM motorcycle dominating and followed by Jo- seph Scicluna on a KTM motor- cycle and James Zahra on Sherco motorcycle. Later Sammut fell a few places but Matthew Gau- ci enterd the scene riding on a Yamaha DT and registering the best time so far during this heat. Gauci and Scicluna were followed by Zahra who retired from this Heat. During the second and last and final Heat in Class B Zahra reg- istered a best time of 3 minutes 54.11 seconds and he was fol- lowed by the 4 minutes 24.40 sec- onds Lap time of Sammut. Third place finisher Scicluna lapped the track in 4 minutes 37.17 seconds. Results for Class A where mo- torcycles with smaller engines race. Krist Falzon on a Honda Motor dominated this class with his best time of 6 minutes 45.14 seconds. Second placed finisher Gabriel Muscat on a Honda CRF klapped a time of 7 minutes 46.31 seconds while third place finisher was James Grima on a KTM mo- torcycle with 11 minutes 26.70 seconds. Results from Class C for Trials motorcyclist was dominated by Gozitan Riders. Renato Mizzi on a Beta 250cc motorcycle won this class with a Lap time of 6 minutes 17.82 seconds followed in second place by Matthew Cauchi on Beta 290cc motor with a Lap time of 8 minutes 26.43 seconds. The Gozo Activities will con- tinue next Sunday 2nd April 2017 by the Trials riders where ASMK will be organizing a third Trials event also to be held at Hondoq ir-Rummien tal-Qassis quarry. The event starts at 10. 00am and is open to Maltese and Gozo Tri- als bikers.
