Eleven per cent of EU citizens are currently affected di- rectly by water scarcity and water stress now affects around 30% of EU territory, not excluding northern Europe. These and many other cold facts and figures formed part of the World Water Day Secondary School Quiz which was won by the St Theresa College Mrieħel for the second year in a row. Inde- pendent school, Verdala Interna- tional, and Church school, St Au- gustine, came second and third respectively. Organised by the HSBC Water Programme – Catch the Drop for the second year in a row, the nationwide quiz had a record par- ticipation of 25 secondary schools where teams vied for the prizes by being knowledgeable about water and its related issues. The quiz was organised with the support of the Department of Curriculum Management and eLearning De- partment. The top three winning schools also received funding from the HSBC Water Programme – Catch the Drop Campaign to imple- ment a water-based project at their premises. Last year's win- ner, Saint Theresa College, used their prize money to upgrade to a more efficient water system in the school. The World Water Day was des- ignated by the United Nations in 1993 and since then has been marked around the world around a chosen theme. The theme for 2017 is 'Wastewater'. Benefits of art explored in latest APS Bank publication Força Chape: Brazilian club shits on sale, proceeds go to club Art has been hard to define be- cause of all the ways one can go about making it. However, it can be generally said that it plays a large part in enriching lives by making us more thoughtful and well-rounded human beings. This is the theme of the latest APS Bank publication, titled Benefits of Art. Launched at the APS Head Of- fice in Swatar, the book features photographs by Dennis Cutajar, Oriella Formosa Carabez, Stefan Cachia, Susanna Diacono and To- nio Polidano, as well as a key essay by academic artist, Hilary Spiteri. To complement the book, the Bank also launched a photogra- phy exhibition which will remain open until May 31, 2017. Book editor and exhibition cu- rator Kevin Casha said that "this initiative pays testament to the development of work that is in- clusive rather than exclusive, work that creates possible links of interaction between members of the Maltese community." E.P. De- lia, Chairman at APS Bank, com- mented as follows about this lat- est milestone in the Bank's CSR programme: "This project offered an opportunity for the camera to substitute voice and sound, paint brush, or clay and chisel". Selling at €35 per copy, the pub- lication can be purchased from apsbank.com.mt. The public is in- vited to visit the exhibition at the APS Bank Centre in Swatar be- tween Mondays and Fridays from 8.30am to 1pm and on Saturdays from 9.30am to 11.15am. The 2016 Chapecoense 3rd shirt is widely available outside of Brazil for the first time, al- lowing fans to show their sup- port for the Brazilian club and to support their rehabilitation. Umbro have worked with their Brazilian partners and the club itself to make a limited number of shirts available worldwide, with all proceeds going directly to Associacāo Chapecoense de Futebol as the club looks to re- build following the events of No- vember 2016. Following the devastating plane crash involving the club as they f lew to their Copa Su- damericana final in Colombia, Umbro have been inundated with requests from people look- ing to purchase shirts to show their support for Chapecoense and to raise funds for the team. The Chapecoense 2016 Third shirt, which the club were due to wear in their game against Atletico Nacional in Colombia, is now being re-released so that fans can recognise Chapecoense and make a significant contribu- tion to the team's future. Umbro are also working with the club and our Brazilian part- ners on further events through- out the year as part of our con- tinued partnership with the club. The Chapecoense shirt is avail- able to buy now from €65 from Go Sport Qormi, with all pro- ceeds going directly to the club.
