Floriana went close after just three min- utes. From a free kick, Mario Fontanella sent the ball towards Amadou Samb whose head- er hit the post. On the 14th minute, Floriana had another chance on goal. Ignacio Varela sent Samb through on goal. However, the Senegalese player was denied by Jurgen Borg. Samb went close again for Floriana on the 28th minute. The midfielder's header was cleared off the line by Andre White. The Maroons responded on the half hour mark. Juan Carlos Corbalan fired a close range shot that was blocked for a corner. Gżira had another attempt on goal on the brink of half time. Ige Abdullahi Adeshina saw his shot hitting the side netting. Giovanni Tedesco's side had a good chance on goal on the 50th minute. Following Steve Pisani 's cross, Nayar forced a good save from Borg. The Greens went ahead on the 56th min- ute. From a corner, Steve Pisani sent a cross in the direction of Antonio Monticelli who finished behind Borg. However, Darren Abdilla's side equalised four minutes later. Corbalan sent a powerful shot from a free-kick that gave Justin Haber no chance. The last opportunity of the match was cre- ated by Gżira on the 78th minute. Corbalan served Moises Avila Perez and the latter sent a shot that was saved by Haber. Pembroke went ahead after just two min- utes. From a free kick, Darren Falzon sent a cross towards Daniane Jawad who headed past David Cassar. Six minutes later, Pembroke doubled their advantage. Karl Micallef fouled Christian Pouga inside the penalty area and the ref- eree pointed towards the spot. From the eleven metres mark, Stevan Racic converted behind Cassar. Things went from bad to worse for the Spartans on the 78th minute as they had Karl Micallef sent off after receiving his second yellow card. Despite being a man down, Ħamrun re- duced the margin of the score on the 83rd minute minute. Massimiliano Giusti hit a low shot from inside the penalty area that ended up inside the net.
