22 maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 3 MAY 2017 Sport MOTORSPORTS PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARIO MICALLEF ASMK 7th autocross event on Sunday ASMK will continue the ASMK Pasta Poi- atti 2016/2017 championship this Sunday, when the Autocross section will be com- peting their seventh event of the season. The programme begins at 1pm. Meanwhile last Saturday ASMK held the Autocross Finals that were held on Sunday, 9 April. Following the starting positing draws for all races the race finals started as scheduled. The results of the Standard Autocross Class Final race registers a win from Johann Vella on his Opel Nova while Nicovich Chircop on Peugeot 206 followed in second place. Third place finisher is Quinn Camilleri on his Peugeot 106 while fourth place is awarded to Deane Farrugia on his yellow Citroen AX. Karl Galea and Angelo Sciclu- na both on Peugeot 106 cars withdrew early in this final race and finished in fifth and sixth places respectively. From Autocross Class A Final we had these results: Gordon Johnson on his Opel Corsa continued to dominate by registering another win during this season. Johnson was followed by Terence Azzopardi and Malcolm Borg, both on Opel Corsa cars. Fourth place finisher is Karl Micallef on his Ford Fiesta. In the Autocross Class B Final we saw a good race from Jean Paul Grech on Peugeot 106 and he won this final followed by Noel Vella on a Ford Fiesta. Third place finisher is Matthew Borg on a Vauxhall Nova fol- lowed in fourth place by Godfrey Gauci on Ford Fiesta too. Ryan Scicluna on another Ford Fiesta finished this race final in fifth place. Meanwhile on Sunday 30 April ASMK continued the Trials Championship of the ASMK Pasta Poiatti 2016/2017. This Fifth Trials competition was held inside the ASMK Sports Complex at Ta' Qali. Eight competitors divided into two classes par- ticipated in this event and these are the results: In Class A for experienced competitors Damon Bonello riding on a Gas Gas motor- cycle dominated the day's results and win- ning ahead of Antonio Leonardi on another Gas Gas Trials motorcycle. Third place fin- isher is Rowen Bonello on a Beta motorcy- cle while brothers Joseph and Ian Scicluna finished the day in fourth and fifth places respectively. In Class B for the less experienced and be- ginner competitors, we saw the young Dan- iel Inguanez on his Beta Trials Bike winning this class. He was followed by Tony Curmi on another Beta.
