15 WHAT'S ON WHAT'S ON TODAY In Guardia Parade Historical re-enactment at Fort St Elmo Place, Valletta at 11:00. The re-enactment portrays the inspection of the fort and its garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John in charge of military affairs. During the re- enactment, of the fort's garrison - some 50 re-enactors in all, kitted-out in their uniforms perform their military drill to demonstrate to the Grand Bailiff its state of readiness. Payment at the door. Art Links Talks Dr Stanley Joe Portelli delivers a talk to the Art Links project, providing a short history of the development of the Cultural Heritage Legislation in Malta, a comparative study of the Cultural Heritage Legislation in Malta with that of Italy and France, and whether the law protects contemporary artists and their artistic output and legacy. The Wind Journeys A screening of a film about Vallentano musician Ignacio Carrillo, who spends his youth living the life of a wandering artist, until the sudden death of his wife makes him vow to abandon the art of the accordion and return the supposedly cursed instrument to his former teacher. Accustomed to a life without ties, Carillo initially resists the admiration of young Fermin Morales, but he eventually gives in to the youth's endearing company. The two set on a quest to the residence of Carillo's elderly master in the desert of La Guajira, stumbling across several towns in need of music. MUSIC MAY 12 Be-Wild Events: Magic Island + Yews Night of indie electro-pop music by German band Magic Island – launching their debut EP 'Like Water' – and supported by local act YEWS at the Floriana Bocci Club, 22:00. Entrance at the door is at €8. Organised by Be- Wild Events. MAY 13 The Areola Treat Comeback Gig Comeback gig by the fan- favourite indie rock band The Areola Treat at Razzett L-Ahmar, Mosta at 20:00. MAY 13 Heart & Soul Tribute night to Ian Curtis of Joy Division at The Funky Monkey, Gzira at 22:00. Featuring the DJ line-up of Lieutenant 030 (UK), Aidan Borg, Michael Bugeja and Joseph Felice. MAY 19 Fleshgod Apocalypse – Live in Malta Italian metal band Fleshgod Apocalypse will be performing at the Orpheum Theatre, Gzira at 19:00. EXHIBITION UNTIL MAY 17 Truth || Lies Collective and exhibition by local and international artists themed around the mutability of the truth in the current media landscape, held at Blitz, St Lucy Street, Valletta. Featured artists include: Armenoui Kasparian Saraidari, Sara Rees, Giuseppe Torre, Erica Giusta, Guillaume Dreyfuss, Jacques Borg Barthet, Manali Jagtap-Nyheim, Tom Bull, Philip Cartelli, Mariangela Ciccarello, Arnold Aganze, Ina Lounguine, Will Henry Carter and Neale Willis. The exhibition will open on April 20 at 19:00, and remain on display at the venue until May 17. Opening times at Blitz are: 10:00-15:00 (Tuesday to Thursday); 15:00 to 19:00 (Friday and Saturday). UNTIL JUNE 11 Consume Exhibition by Victor Agius at the Spaces C1-C4 at Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier, Valletta. Consume speaks about how through time, human intervention and displacement; matter, objects and quotidian artefacts experience transformation. There will be an artist's talk at the venue on May 20 at 19:30. Curated by Irene Biolchini. The project is also part of the VIVA 2017 programme. PERFORMANCE MAY 12-14 Tnejn(2) Re-staging of the ŻfinMalta performance Tnejn(2), this time at the Gharghur Theatre, Triq E.M. Perren, Ħal Għargħur at 20:00. The production will re-stage two pieces, 'Exhausting Space' by Spanish-Dutch choreographer Iván Pérez Avilés and 'Petrichor' by Spanish- Malta based choreographer Lucía Piquero.
