Organised in conjunction with the Lega Navale Italiana (Sezione Siracusa), the start of the race alternates each year and attracts a well sized fleet. This year, the eighty five nautical mile race will start from Syracuse on Saturday 15th July. Crews can opt to take part in one of the five Classes – IRC, ORC, Open, Classic and Cruiser. The Race promises to see some friendly yet com- petitive racing between the Sicilian and Maltese crews. Such is the popularity of the race that crews from Ottovolante, Maredo, Skin and Lumar, just to mention a few are already on the fleet list. Maltese participation is also growing, amongst the entrants is Peter Valentino, racing in the IRC Class, which he won last year. Other entrants in- clude Otra Vez, Janissah, Toddler, Maltese Falcon and Lartista, fresh from his recent success at the Hyblea Cub in Ragusa two weeks ago. Registrations will be accepted until the 13th July. The course record, established by Massimo Sa- voca's Dreamer Tech in 2014 with a time of 8:37:22 still stands to the day. The prize-giving ceremony will take place at the Royal Malta Yacht Club on Sunday 16th July at 20:00hrs.
