maltatoday, SUNDAY, 23 JULY 2017 Events 43 Research carried out by Net Check GmbH, a leading, inde- pendent German firm special- ising in performance testing of mobile networks (w w w.netch- eck.de), has conclusively shown that GO has the best mobile network in Malta. The research, conducted nationwide, also re- vealed that GO's mobile inter- net service is significantly faster than that of any of its competi- tors. Net Check 's research covered three main areas; network cov- erage, voice quality, and data quality. Overall, GO came out on top, particularly in mobile internet, where GO's network demonstrated a significant ad- vantage over competing net- works. In fact, in urban areas, GO's 4G mobile internet network delivered an average download speed of 85.4 Mbps compared to the runner-up which had an average download speed of 56.8 Mbps. Outside of urban areas, GO delivered an average down- load speed of 79.0 Mbps, com- pared to the runner-up which had an average download speed of 55.0 Mbps. These results were based on 6,000 samples of mo- bile internet service and 2,000 samples of voice service taken simultaneously for each opera- tor over a route covering more than 400 kilometres across all Malta and Gozo. Attila Keszeg, Chief Executive Officer at GO plc, said, "This is the first ever truly nationwide research carried out by a repu- table company into the quality of the mobile networks in Malta and we are of course delighted that GO has been proven to be the best. The fact that GO's 4G network performed significantly better than that of its competi- tors is due to the fact that GO's network is the only one in the market where the radio base stations, on which the service depends, are all connected with fibre. The fact that GO has been in- dependently certified as having the fastest mobile internet in Malta motivates us to keep go- ing and increase our momen- tum. Since December 2016, GO has been in a position to launch 4G+. This service will be acti- vated as soon as the necessary frequency bands are allocated. Going forward, GO is deter- mined to ensure we remain the fastest network across Malta – make no mistake, we are the fastest and we will remain the fastest.'' Net Check 's report is available online on their website. The re- port details the various param- eters that were included in the research including, among oth- ers, signal strength and cover- age, call set up time, call success rates, speech quality, web page download speeds, and file up- load and download speeds. The report also explains the weight- ing Net Check attributed to each category in order to determine the final overall network perfor- mance score. To celebrate being the fastest network in Malta, GO will also be offering all new, renewing or upgrading Pay Monthly cus- tomers on either Limitless 1+, Limitless 2+, or Limitless 3+, an additional 10GB of data over and above existing offers for the first 30 days. This offer will be valid until 31 August 2017. Delicata's 16th Classic Wine Festival Waves The Flag For Maltese Wine Wine coins will be the com- mon currency at this summer's Delicata Classic Wine Festival, exchangeable for glasses of de- lightful Maltese wines. Each one of the four wine-and-joy filled evenings promises to be as magi- cal as ever with a great line-up of wine, food and music. Organised by Emmanuel Deli- cata Winemaker, Malta's great- est wine experience of the year is back for its 16th consecutive edition. It takes place over four nights, from Thursday 10 to Sun- day 13 August 2017, at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, from 7 pm till midnight. Balmy, starlit Maltese summer sunsets, delicious wines, great music and friendly hospitality, the Delicata Classic Wine Festi- val is all, rolled into one. There will be over 20 different wines to be sampled. Vintages of nine Delicata award-winning brands will be served from as many stalls spread along the gar- den's periphery. These include the semi-spar- kling Frizzantes made from the native old bush vines Girgentina and Ġellewża, a selection of tasty white, red and rosé DOK Malta Medina and DOK Gozo Victoria Heights boutique wines, the no- ble mono-varietals of the iconic flagship Gran Cavalier selection, and Malta's most internationally awarded Grand Vin de Hauteville range. Visitors can also taste the sweeter lifestyle Dolcino, the ex- clusive Maltese Falcon wines, the popular lush Casella Moscato, other varietals of the Classic Col- lection, and all three of the Pjazza Reġina wines. To try the Delicata wines, all one has to do is to purchase a little wine purse for €15 at the entrance gate of the Upper Bar- rakka Gardens. The wine purse comes filled with 24 wine coins and complete with a souvenir glass which is for the wine lover to keep. Otherwise entrance is free of charge. Handing over the correct change of wine coins at the stalls inside will prompt dedicated wine stewards to pour a standard 150 ml glass of the wine on show in the festival glass. Since the winery is committed to sustainable practices, Deli- cata has sourced environmen- tal-friendly coins made from a starch-based material extracted from potato peel which, if left exposed to natural elements, will fully biodegrade. Different wines hold different amounts of coins. Six wine coins can be exchanged for a glass of the Delicata's flagship wines while only three coins for a pour- ing of other quality wines. The marked coins are valid for one evening only; they may be kept as a memento. Live cooking stalls will be serv- ing a tempting variety of both traditional Maltese and interna- tional dishes to tease a wide range of palates. Maltese favourites will be prepared by Maypole, Indian dishes by Gate of India and other oriental dishes by Asian House. There will be also various cheese and charcuterie platters by Cater- max as well as desserts. Presenter Mireille Bonello will compere the live entertainment. Every evening there will be a dou- ble-bill starting with an opening- night concert on Thursday by WaterWings and Red Electrick. The Busker and the Spiteri Lu- cas Band will perform on Friday, Planet Seed and The Crowns will play on Saturday, and Cash & Band and The Travellers will bring the wine event of the year to a close on Sunday. Delicata Privilege Card holders can use the fast track facility pro- vided they pre-book and pay on- line through Delicata's website. Strictly no wine will be served to anyone under 17 and patrons are reminded to enjoy responsibly.
