maltatoday, SUNDAY, 23 JULY 2017 News DENISE GRECH THE Prime Minister's wife Mi- chelle raised the stakes yesterday, as she swam 10kms from off Ta' Fra Ben bar in Qawra to Mar- samxett harbour. The swim was her longest yet, beating last year's 8kms and 2015's 6kms efforts. Accompanied by her daughter Soleil, Muscat looked nervous as she got aboard the boat that took her out at sea at 10am, a rosary bead tied to her wrist. Speaking to MaltaToday, she said: "I think preparations have been going on for over three years. First I took on a 6kms swim, then an 8kms one. Today I'll be swim- ming a total of 10kms." The swim took just over six hours, double the time of last year's swim. Muscat took on this endeavour alone, after being joined by the Malta Special Olympics team in 2015. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, and twin daughters Soleil and Etoile were also present, lend- ing their support from aboard an AFM patrol boat. All donations from the charity swim go towards the Marigold Foundation, a charity organisa- tion that Michelle herself found- ed and chairs.
