43 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER 2017 California inspires Chanel's Fall/Winter collection "You can be inspired by a photo- graph that already exists, but creating your own inspiration gives another di- mension to the process – it gets much more exciting…" Lucia Pica said. To find inspiration for the Fall/ Winter Makeup Collection, Pica – CHANEL Global Creative Makeup and Color Designer – embarked on a Californian road trip. Her idea was startling in its simplicity: to experi- ence afresh the lights and colors of the outside world, creating a complete starting point for her creative process. From the dawn mists and sun-dap- pled coastline to the city lights and gritty noir of downtown LA, Lucia Pica embraced the serendipitous cre- ative possibilities afforded when the journey becomes the destination. "I wanted to make my own mood board; to be inspired by what is hap- pening in the moment," says Lucia Pica. She captured fleeting, photo- graphic moments to find fresh nu- ances for color and visual textures that could inform the Fall / Winter Collection. Gabrielle gives flowers a new voice With GABRIELLE CHANEL fra- grance, perfumer Olivier Polge, in cooperation with the CHANEL Fra- grance Creation and Development Laboratoy has given flowers a brand new voice. He did so by composing a dream flower, an explosive corolla, a whirl- wind of petals. This pure product of the mind has created an ideal white flower, drawing upon all of the floral varietis ever recorded in the history of CHANEL Fragrances. Olivier Polge began by selecting ylang-ylang, jasmine and orange blos- som, as well as a touch of tuberose now grown in Grasse, but then took his conception of white flowers much further. By varying their range, deci- phering their score, he took interest in the molecules that compose them. He increased the intnsity of jas- mine. He used white musk notes to add more velvet to the ylan-ylang pet- als. He accentuated the creaminess of tuberose with milky sandalwood. He boosted the freshness of orange blossom with mandarin peel, a zest of grapefruit and a hint of blackcurrant. The imaginary flower does more than produce an olfactory vibration of the skin. It diffuses its luminous power like a floral halo. GABRIELLE CHANEL is not just a fragrance. It is a genuine revolution. Available in a 50 and 100ml format. Chanel is distributed by Alfred Gera & Sons Ltd.
