maltatoday, SUNDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER 2017 II Motoring All-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 achieves maximum five-star rating in Euro NCAP safety tests • Outstanding protection for adults, children and pedestrians • Advanced Smart City Brake Support (autonomous emergency braking system) fitted as standard • Safety and style: Mazda's Proactive Safety philosophy and KODO Soul of Motion design THE all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 has been rated as one of the saf- est family cars drivers can buy. Euro NCAP, the independent organisation that assesses the safety of new cars in Europe, has awarded the all-new Mazda CX-5 a maximum safety rating of five stars. The verdict was delivered fol- lowing rigorous crash testing and evaluation of sophisticated driver assistance systems that are standard equipment on the new model. On sale now across Europe, the all-new Mazda CX-5 achieved outstanding scores for the protection of adults, children and pedestrians. Jeff Guyton, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Europe, said: "The safety of the people who drive our cars, and those around them, is very important for Mazda. That is reflected in this outstanding five-star rating awarded by Euro NCAP. It's tes- tament to the enhanced range of advanced safety technologies that make up our Proactive Safety philosophy and will help to sup- port drivers." All-new 2017 Mazda CX-5: Euro NCAP safety ratings The five-star safety rating is a tribute to the outstanding work of Mazda's designers and engi- neers who refused to compro- mise during the development of the all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5. It illustrates how compact SUV drivers can enjoy both outstand- ing safety, thanks to Mazda's Proactive Safety philosophy, and inspirational design as a result of Mazda's KODO Soul of Motion styling. All-new 2017 Mazda CX-5: Advanced Smart City Brake Support Fitted as standard to the all-new Mazda CX-5, Advanced Smart City Brake Support is a form of autonomous emergency brak- ing. This actively helps the driver avoid a potential collision, or at least reduces the speed of impact and therefore the risk of injury. The system uses a forward-facing camera to watch the road ahead, and operates between 4 and 80km/h. It can automatically stop or reduce the speed of the car when there is a risk of colliding with a vehicle or pedestrian in front of the all-new Mazda CX-5. All-new 2017 Mazda CX-5: a new dimension of driving enjoyment Mazda believes that driver and car should feel as one. It calls this Jinba-Ittai, and engineer- ing advances mean the all-new Mazda CX-5 sets new standards for a satisfying drive. A more rigid body structure, uprated steering, suspension and brakes and G-Vectoring Control, an innovative software-based system that controls body roll for better handling, bring a new dimen- sion of driver enjoyment to the compact SUV sector. To date, Mazda has sold more than 1.5 million CX-5s. The model currently accounts for some 25% of Mazda's global sales. The all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5
