maltatoday WEDNESDAY 15 NOVEMBER 2017 THIS WEEK 15 WHAT'S ON EXHIBITION NOVEMBER 17-DECEMBER 16 An Accidental Find Exhibition of sculptures by Paul Scerri at The Pop-Up Gallery, 37, Treasury Street, Valletta. According to the artist: "They visualise a metaphor of emotions devouring society, the human vulnerability and imperfections. The natural beauty is paying the price of human greed and my endless questioning of what is correct or "socially correct"... a difficult choice". More information: HYPERLINK "mail to: info@ mariegallery5.com". UNTIL NOVEMBER 18 I Am the Body of a Human Exhibition by US artist Andrew Birk at Malta Contemporary Art, Felix Street, Valletta. Birk presents a series of Life Shrouds, an exercise of dirt- on-denim pieces made with the imprint of his own body. These paintings are multiple indexes of one same reference, a physicality in movement: each the unpredictable product of an alive, perfect machine. NOVEMBER 19 Almost There Interactive one-day visual art event organised by FRAGMENTA at Sant'Elena Band Club, Birkirkara from 13:00 to 17:00. As part of the event, photographer Darrin Zammit Lupi presents beautiful landscape images that were created while on a two-week migrant search and rescue mission this past October, thus providing an in-built disturbance in our personal perception of beauty. Karen Irmer invites viewers to step into and explore unknown mystic spaces physically. Quite often those are, such as the horizon, sites that are unreachable by definition. The aesthetic playing with perception is a concept which often reoccurs in Karen Irmer's work. What is really there, and what could be? Reality or apparition? NOVEMBER 22-DECEMBER 9 Dik il-Qtajra & Babies Series by Gabriel Buttigieg Exhibition of paintings by Gabriel Buttiġieġ inspired by on his father Alfred's once- censored chapbook 'Dik il-Qtajra' at MARIE Gallery5, Mosta.
