47 Events maltatoday SUNDAY 10 DECEMBER 2017 Nexia BT employees team up to help add a touch of Christmas at the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre A team from Nexia BT started off their weekend with some sparkle when they dedicated time and effort to add a touch of Christmas spirit at the Rainbow Ward at the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre. 'This event has now become a yearly appointment for us at Nexia BT,' said Brian Tonna, Managing Partner, Nexia BT. 'Christmas is a time associated with families, good times and sharing of presents. However, it is always important to keep in mind other families who might be going through difficult times. 'Puttinu Cares, through the assistance of volunteers and a dedicated medical team, work relentlessly to help the children and their families throughout the year. As a Maltese company which has the local community at heart, we are always eager to reach out to NGOs and help in different ways, but I must admit that this event is one which I have particularly at heart,' Ton- na said. Rennie Zerafa, CEO of Put- tinu Cares, said, "We would like to thank you for your kindness and initiative in sparing some time for these children suffering fromCancer. You made the at- mosphere joyful in preparation for Christmas." The Shoreline concludes its 93rd Promise of sale agreement NINETYTHREE promise of sale agreements have been signed to date for The Shoreline's Phase I at Smart- City Malta in Kalkara with the re- maining preliminary agreements to be signed in the coming weeks. Adrian Sciberras, became the 93rd client to enter into a promise of sale agreement (konvenju) for one of the residential apartments. He is the CEO of Business Concepts Inter- national plc, whose property arm The General Properties Company Ltd has signed a number of promise of sale agreements, signifying their strong commitment to this project. He is among the first 100 clients to have reserved apartments in the €200 million mixed-use develop- ment that will be enjoying spectacu- lar views, beautifully landscaped open spaces, and an assortment of community amenities within walk- ing distance. "Phase I has attracted a mix of buy- ers: from investors, buy-to-let clients and end-users, and a good response for The Shoreline's Phase II seaview apartments, launched two weeks ago, is being received. We can say that 60% of the buyers are Maltese, showing that the market is strongly confirming its belief in the potential of The Shoreline," said Albert Gatt, The Shoreline's sales and marketing manager. A thriving and dynamic development in a great location, The Shoreline offers a variety of luxury one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, all finished to exacting standards and having their own un- derground parking facilities. And the daily ritual is paying off. Throughout 2017, the 1,000+ Bank employees have been bringing in plastic caps to generate money for l-Istrina. Their wholehearted support to 'Nirriċikla għall-Istrina 2017' (I recycle for l-Istrina) resulted in collection of 50 large bags of plastic caps. A number of small and large collection containers were placed in branches, can- teen and mess areas, contact centre, IT department, and the mailing room. The last of the collected caps were deposited with the campaign organiser, GreenPak Coop Society, a few days ago. The staff members have also responded positively to the call to recycle used and unwanted batteries by supporting the na- tionwide BATREE campaign, also run by GreenPak. A total of two BATREE containers were placed at HSBC sites. "Recycling caps and batteries has proven to be tricky. They are often so small that they fall through the cracks of the recy- cling chain. Whilst individual participation in waste reduc- tion and sustainable recycling deserve appreciation, corporate action such as HSBC's provide a collective boost to our national recycling efforts," said Green- Pak CEO Ing Mario Schembri. Sustainability underpins the business model at HSBC, as it allows the Bank to help busi- nesses thrive and contribute to the health and growth of com- munities. Two Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Trolleys have also been placed at prominent points with the aim to increase the collection and recycling of small waste electric and electronic equip- ment. So far in 2017, the trolleys had to be emptied thrice and over 100 items were collected by WEEE Malta. HSBC employees have been working on reducing the waste footprint at the company International call for Artist-in -Residence for Esplora experience THE Valletta 2018 Foundation together with Esplora Interactive Science Centre, is inviting artists to apply for an immersive Artist- in-Residence (AiR) experience. The Residency Programme aims to communicate science through and with the art form of storytell- ing and encourages productive interaction between international creatives, local creatives and local communities as well as, physical and virtual environments. The residency will be held at Es- plora Interactive Science Centre, Triq il-Marina, Kalkara, Malta, be- tween April 2018 and May 2018 and will run for six weeks. Esplora runs in the context of a growing innovative and creative scientific and cultural scene in Mal- ta, led by the Malta Council for Sci- ence and Technology, Valletta's Eu- ropean Capital of Culture title, and the Arts Council Malta's Strategy 2020. When it comes to science and culture, this residency would like to highlight the fact that it is not a matter of one or the other but rath- er that one goes hand-in-hand with the other. Esplora always strives to be a centre of excellence and is at the forefront in STEAM initiatives (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). The successful artist will create a site-specific storytelling perfor- mance for Esplora Interactive Sci- ence Centre and will work closer with the Esplora Lead Science Pro- gramme Developer, as well as the Esplora Director. Esplora offers a various range of indoor and out- door spaces for performances with multiple viewpoints and extensive exposure to day and evening visi- tors. The artist will also liaise with the communities of the Three Cities (Cospicua, Vittoriosa and Senglea) and Kalkara to develop a perfor- mance relevant to the inhabitants of the area. When creating the storytelling performance, the art- ist should therefore keep in mind Esplora's visitors, staff and the sur- rounding communities to ensure that the performance is both rel- evant and specific to the area. To successfully achieve this aim, the artist will be given an understand- ing of science in the daily life of Maltese people, artistic projects, re- search and traditions as well as any other information pertinent to the aforementioned communities. AiR applications will be consid- ered in relation to the overarching strategic visions of Valletta 2018 and those of Esplora Interactive Sci- ence Centre. The call was launched on Thurs- day 7th December and more details may be found on ht tp://esplora.org.mt/interna- tional-call-for-artist-in-residence- esplora-interactive-science-centre- science-through-storytelling/
