The motion – as amended by the gov- ernment - was approved with 36 votes in favour and 29 against. The government had put forth four amendments to a motion which had been tabled by Said, asking for a board of in- quiry to be set up to probe the writings and allegations made by journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was murdered on 16 October. MATTHEW AGIUS THE SMS which detonated the bomb that killed Daphne Caruana Galizia has been confirmed as be- ing sent from a cabin cruiser off the Great Siege Bell area of Valletta. This emerged from the testimony of Police Inspector Keith Arnaud yesterday evening, as he gave mag- istrate Claire Stafrace Zammit a detailed account of the investiga- tion which led to the arraignment of George Degiorgio 55, ic-Ciniz, Al- fred Degiorgio, 53, known as il-Fulu and Vincent Muscat, 55, known as il-Kohhu, in connection with Caru- ana Galizia's murder. The compila- tion of evidence got off to a bumpy start yesterday morning after the court was asked to recuse itself on the grounds that the magistrate's husband had been the subject of some of Caruana Galizia's writings. After several hours of deliberation, the magistrate refused.
