maltatoday WEDNESDAY 7 FEBRUARY 2018 Sport 22 ON Sunday 4th February 2018 Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi continued with an activity of the Honda Moto- cross National Championship 2017/2018. In this competi- tion 21 competitors, divided into three classes, registered for the race held at Ta Qali ASMK Sports Complex. During the day in Class A where riders with experience and skills in this field com- pete, we saw Kyle Camilleri on his KTM dominate the qualification race. During this pre-race event Kyle was followed by Carmelo Borg on his Honda and Clayton Camilleri on a KTM. During the following two other Heats which counted for the day's Championship Points Kyle Camilleri registered a record lap time and also won the first Heat. But in the second Heat it was Kyle's brother Clayton Camilleri who won the Heat ahead of Kyle Camilleri who finished in second place. The Final Result of the day for this Class A states that Clay- ton is declared as the winner, followed by his brother Kyle Camilleri. Both Camilleris compete on KTM motorcy- cles while third placed Carmel Borg rides on a Honda. Fourth place is awarded to Stefan Dimech on his Honda while fifth placed James Zahra rides a Sherco MX Bike. In Class B we saw Bernard Sammut on his sponsored Beta to dominate this class where he managed to win both the qualifying and the Heats of the day. In the final day's results Sammut was fol- lowed by Daniel Caruana on a Honda while third placed rid- er is Christopher Hartmann on a KTM. Fourth and fifth places were won by Krist Fal- zon and Michael Sant respec- tively both riding on Husqvar- na motorcycles. In the Veterans Class which is held for riders of the age of 40 years and more but who are still able to ride motocross in competition, we again saw Paul Deguara on his KTM winning. In the Final Clas- sification Paul was followed by Andrew Cassar on KTM. Third-placed rider was Daniel Bonnici on a KTM. Meanwhile the activities of the Association are to con- tinue during next week. On Thursday 15th February 2018 a meeting and race registra- tion is being organised for those competitors who wish to participate in the 'Mini Car Demolition' to be held on 18th March 2018 at Ta' Qali. On Saturday 17th Febru- ary 2018 ASMK will be hold- ing the Race Final of the Au- tocross Class A which was postponed on Sunday 26th November 2017. This race is being held at the Ta' Qali Sport Complex and starts at 3pm. Admission to this race final is free for all. On Sunday 18th February 2018 ASMK will be organiz- ing another motorcycle race from the WotoMoto National Enduro Championship for 2017/2018. This event which is open also to non-ASMK members is to take place at the Fawwara Hardrocks Quarry and starts at 10am. Registra- tion opens at 9am.
