| SUNDAY • 13 MAY 2018 maltatoday 30 SPORTS FOOTBALL Andrew Cohen wins the MFA Footballer of the Year award for the fourth time ANDREW Cohen has cemented his status as one of the best Maltese players of the last two decades after winning the MFA Footballer of the Year for a record fourth time. Cohen, who turns 37 today, showed that class is ageless as he claimed the most coveted individual prize at the 2018 MFA Awards, held on Friday evening at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. The Gżira United captain just pipped fellow Malta international and Balzan midfielder Paul Fenech to the honour with Birkirkara's Jake Grech third. Inter Club Malta is celebrating its 40th an- niversary and as part of the cel- ebrations it is inviting over three legendary Inter footballers of 2010. Dr Chris Bonett, through collaboration with Dizz Group, has worked to bring over Dejan Stankovic who will be visiting Malta between the 7 and 9 June. Inter Club Malta is planning to organise a training camp, where Stankovic will be coaching chil- dren in a well-known nursery. He will also be attending a din- ner which Inter Club Malta is hosting in his honour and for all its members at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana. Dejan Stankovic is one of the best midfielders in the world. He started his career with Red Star Belgrade of Serbia. After- wards he played in Italy's Se- rie A, where after a number of years with Lazio, with whom he won a Scudetto, Coppa Ita- lia and the Cup Winners' cup, he reached the pinnacle of his career when he played for Inter for 10 years In Inter he won all that can be won, including five Serie A league championships, four Coppa Italia, four Super Cups, the Clubs World Cup and the UEFA Champions League of 2009/2010. In that year In- ter managed to win three cups, the Scudetto, Coppa Italia, and Champions League under the direction of their coach Jose Mourinho. During his football career Stankovic also played with three different national teams: Yugoslavia, Serbia and Mon- tenegro, and towards the end of his career he was also the captain of Serbia's national football team. Since his retire- ment from football Stankovic has worked in different tech- nical roles related to football and during the last four years he has been involved in coach training with UEFA. Inter Club Malta feel greatly honoured that Stankovic has accepted the invitation to visit the island during these impor- tant celebrations for all Inter supporters in Malta. More de- tails about the training camp and dinner will be issued by Inter Club Malta in the coming days.
