MOTORING M2 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 20 MAY 2018 Enemed raises the bar in fuel market Enemed executive chairman Kevin Chircop says Enemed will give Maltese customers the best products and maximum quality on a consistent and reliable basis ENEMED are set to raise na- tional standards in fuel quality and customer service, as Execu- tive Chairman, Kevin Chircop, explained how the company is set to embark on the project of franchising local petrol stations, which would guarantee product reliability and quality insurance across the island. In an interview, Kevin Chircop said that Enemed will ensure that the local mentality of 'everything goes' in terms of fuel standards as well as customer service in the fuel industry has to stop. "We want the customer to have the maximum driving experi- ence all the time through our products," Chircop said. The maximum experience provided, according to Chircop, does not exclusively mean the experience within the petrol sta- tion. It is the driving experience achieved when driving a car, that Enemed's fuel products can ensure to be consistent and pro- longed. Kevin Chircop explained how Enemed is currently looking for petrol station owners who are in- terested in franchising their fuel stations. This franchising would mean that the customer can ac- cess high quality diesel and petrol products that undergo rigorous testing and quality assurance. The franchising of the petrol station would provide Enemed products that ensure maximum efficiency and better vehicle per- formance for the customer. "It is not only the quality of the fuels that the customer will be gaining from the franchising, but also the standards imposed on the fuel station owners that must be kept, with multiple audits carried out throughout the year by Enemed officials," he said. A team set up by the company will be instructed to perform the product testing both in fuel pumps and fuel tanks, in addition to the assessment of bowsers that transport the fuel to the desig- nated fuel station. "We want the customer to achieve a consistent product, irrelevant from which fuel station one decides to buy our petrol or diesel." The fuels provided by Enemed meet and exceed European Un- ion standards, with the company providing customers with fuel that has a lower environmen- tal impact and increased engine power at the same price of other available fuels. "The diesel and petrol provided meet and exceed EU standards, while maintain- ing the same price of other fuels. That is the commitment we have to our customers," Chircop said. Asked to explain the safety standards set by Enemed within and around the franchised fuel stations, Chircop said the com- pany is not obliged to set such standards, but as part of the fran- chising, Enemed has committed itself towards the customer to make sure such standards are kept by the station owners. Chircop explained how En- emed invested in a €700,000 lab which will be used for product testing and product innovation. The Enemed executive chair- man was asked what products are provided to clients, and he replied that Enemed provides customers with EN590 superior diesel, EN228 unleaded gasoline and EN228 high performance petrol. The EN590 superior diesel has no biodiesel additives and a higher cetane number, which in turn helps diesel burn better, resulting in a more efficient fuel, also allowing for lengthy engine durability. "The positive effects of e-diesel have already been no- ticed by our customers, with a truck-delivery company owner reportedly saving €1,500 in truck maintenance every month since switching to our diesel," Kevin Chircop said. When asked about a common occurrence of old diesel car en- gines leaking when switching to higher quality diesel, Chircop said that this ensues due to the finer make of the Enemed diesel and is a result of low-quality die- sel containing bio-diesel that has been on the Maltese market for so long. "Proper engine mainte- nance can resolve the issue, and Enemed will soon embark on an educational campaign that aims to inform the public on proper vehicle upkeep." Despite being provided for car enthusiasts that demand higher quality petrol, ePower also pro- vides the regular petrol car own- ers with better efficiency. Enemed also plans to roll out a set of initiatives as part of their corporate social responsibility. Chircop said that Enemed has already started by sponsoring the Maltese power boat racing team while competing in international competitions, with Chircop say- ing that customers are using the same fuel use in these high-speed racers – an insurance of the qual- ity provided by Enemed. "We plan to make Enemed the 'Red Bull' of Malta, providing extreme sports enthusiasts with the backup needed to achieve the next step towards professional- ism," Chircop said. Enemed is also currently spon- soring the national waterpolo sports team, which will be repre- senting the country in next June's European championship in Bar- celona. Kevin Chircop also explained how Enemed is aware of the ever- growing car population in Malta, stating that the company is plan- ning to undergo an initiative of planting a new tree for every new car registered in the island. "We are committed to setting an ex- ample for others to follow. We are not settling for the mediocre, the bar has to be raised," Chircop insisted. The Enemed executive chair- man concluded by saying that all the initiatives and projects planned ahead have the custom- er in mind. "It is not about us; all our com- mitments keep the customer at the centre of our work. The franchising will not only boost competition on the market but also help in empowering the customer to make an informed choice when buying fuel." We plan to make Enemed the 'Red Bull' of Malta, providing extreme sports enthusiasts with the backup needed to achieve the next step towards professionalism
