OPINION maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 27 JUNE 2018 8 OPINION ANALYSIS Youths, stand up and be recognised YOUTHS, active in society de- serve recognition and encour- agement to keep on working on a more sustainable future for Malta and the rest of the world. Locally, many businesses and active citizens are constantly working to tackle the next big issue that will make someone's life better or come up with a new product or service that will change society as we know it. Many times, we do not even realise that these people are right under our noses. Believing that all those making some kind of positive change deserve to be recognised, JCI Malta is once again on the hunt to find young and inspir- ing individuals and businesses through the JCI Malta awards. The friendlier the business, the better Just like getting disappointed with a company's service is a reality, some businesses can leave you craving for that ser- vice again just because they do something special extremely well. Maybe they have a stellar customer service, they seek to help people with disability, and they're truly eco-friendly. The Friendly Business Cat- egory seeks to recognise the important role played by small businesses in the con- tinuous development and im- provement of our economy and local communities. The competition aims to award businesses that go the extra mile and provide an outstand- ing service to their customers and their community at large. It is particularly important in this economic environment to highlight businesses that don't allow their standards to slip and continue to provide quality services. The Friendliest Business in Malta will be judged on the following criteria: Commu- nity Impact, Customer Care, Disability Access, Digital Experience, Eco-friendliness and Shop Layout and Design. These six categories are the foundations of a business that has the customer at the cente- reof their model. Coming closer to a more sustainable world Individuals from all over the world deserve to be recognised for their outstanding contribu- tion towards the betterment of society. Many are those who attempt to recognise these unsung he- roes who by way of their ar- tistic, academic, technological skill or by means of their en- trepreneurial, environmental, moral leadership and human rights activism, have made a sustainable positive impact in our communities. Contributing to this, JCI Mal- ta took a pro-active approach in recognising the fact that, if we are to truly to encourage civic society, world and business leaders to seriously take into consideration the Global Goals in their actions and strategies, due visibility is required. There are many inspiring individuals out there who, consciously or unconsciously, are working ac- tively towards achieving these goals and they're the ones that deserve to be recognised. More information about the project can be found at: www. jci.org.mt. Nominations for youths be- tween the ages of 18 and 40 are open up until the 18 August 2018.
