With artists and locals as well as inter- national thinkers, the public will participate in a collective effort to design a utopia, an alterna- tive society for a better future. The upcoming edition, The Uto- pian Nights on Commons, takes place on the 23rd and the 24th of November at the Chinese Gar- den of Serenity in Santa Lucia. DECEMBER 7-8 Jimmy Carr Live in Malta Jimmy Carr is bringing 'The Best Of, Ultimate, Gold, Great- est Hits World Tour' to Malta on the 7th and 8th of December! Known for his fantastic reper- toire of jokes and one-liners, and lightning-sharp delivery, Jimmy is gathering a selection of his very best jokes along with brand new material for the ul- timate comedy show. We can't be more excited to see what he comes up with this time around. Who knows… maybe this time around he'll make the Maltese even crosser. Tickets will be re- leased very soon! MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE NOVEMBER 17 Class of 95 For the fourth consecutive year, one of the biggest 90s parties on the island is coming back this November. Returning to The Dome (Tigullio's Main Arena) we're going to make sure every- one has enough space to drink, play, snap and dance the night away. It's not a proper comeback unless it's bigger and better. You know the score: throughout the night, Clint and Dave will be taking you through the best and worst of the years that made us the screwed up generation we are today, and this time round, it's all about the 90s. DECEMBER 8-9 Like...The Beatles The BBC Beatlemania is hit- ting Malta! It's the magical six- ties again, when four young lads took the world by storm. Back then, millions around the world followed The Beatles through ra- dio shows TV appearances. The band sold millions of records and albums around the globe at a time when the internet wasn't even a dream. Till this very day, songs by The Beatles are played over a million times a day. Like... The Beatles will feature one of the most exciting official Bea- tles tribute bands around. The concert will be held at one of Malta's finest indoor theatres – The Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC) in Valletta on the 8th and 9th of December 2018. EXHIBITIONS NOVEMBER 8 – 29 Saudade - Paintings by Gabriel Buttigieg In his new body of work Ga- briel explores with beauty the strained nature of experience. Establishing identity through memory, nothing remains un- moved. Gabriel's paintings array how cultural memory is a recon- structive affair where through colour, tone, and emotion, spe- cific events are constantly rec- ollected or revalued. 'Saudade' opens on the 8th November 2018 at Palazzo de la Salle, Re- public Street, Valletta, and runs until the 29th November 2018. NOVEMBER 17 – DECEMBER 9 Vo eracity Lazuli Art Gallery – a Fair Trade Gallery of Primitive Art which also curates contempo- rary exhibitions of both local and international artists in win- ter – is launching the first col- laborative exhibition of father and son Paul & Thomas Scerri, of sculptures in different me- diums entitles Vo_eracity this November in Victoria, Gozo.. The sculptures will be exhibited at 83 Palm Street, Victoria Gozo, between November 17 and De- cember 9. CHRISTMAS 15 DECEMBER – 16 DECEMBER Magical Christmas Concert 2018 – MCC Valletta Malta's most anticipated Magi- cal Christmas show is back for the 4th consecutive year as the Mediterranean Conference Centre is expected to turn into one energetic concert on Sat- urday 15th and Sunday 16th December 2018. At the christening of Princess Aurora, Maleficent, the evil Fairy, casts a spell on the baby princess. Eighteen years pass and the spell puts Aurora to sleep. Prince Charming with the help of Dame Nanna Kola and Muddles fights Maleficent and her whole army to break the evil spell and rid the land of the evil Fairy once and for all. Sleeping Beauty is a rip-roaring tale that will take the audience, young and old, from one adventure to another, with side-splitting gags, laugh-out-loud slapstick, chases and good old "good versus evil". The panto will be held at the Manoel Theatre from 23 De- cember to 6 January. 23 DECEMBER – 5 JANUARY Jack and the Beanstalk – The Panto All his life young Jack has only ever had one dream - to become a famous knight. Unfortunately he comes from a dirt-poor fam- ily that can't even afford to keep up with the ever-increasing rent. One day, his village is attacked by giants who take away the girl he loves - presumably to eat her. Among the innovations of this year's edition, there will also be a performance by the duo Danusan and the tickets for the performance will be redeemable as vouchers for books on sale in the exhibi- tion halls of MCC during the Festival. The tickets will be available for sale online in the first week of September. Hadd ma' jista ghalina A social spectacle about Malta's village feasts, us- ing band and march music, the play looks at the differ- ence between what the feasts mean, and what the Mal- tese have turned them into. A saint who comes back to earth is shocked at Malta's festivities and people's men- talities. The play will be per- formed at the Teatru Manoel between the 9th and 11th of November, with tickets rang- ing from €10-20.
