The project will be adminis- tered by the Floriana Local Council and will cost close to €400,000. Embellishment works will include the installation of outdoor gym equipment, CCTV securit y equip- ment, an irrigation system and pe- rimeter fencing. The football pitch 's turf will be replaced and the equip- ment upgraded. New and safer play- ing field equipment will be installed while the sanitary facilities in the garden will be completely changed. Maintenance will be carried out on the lamposts and the seating and f looring materials. The electrical and cabling systems will also be upgraded for better safe- t y. Situated on the Floriana bastions, the gardens were inaugurated in 1936 by King George V himself. Originally, the gardens were part of the King George V hospital but were later made accessible to the public. The entrance to the gardens is char- acterised by a graceful decorated arch with the British Monarchy coat- of-arms up at the top. In 1951, a clubhouse was built with- in the grounds of the garden to serve as the headquarters of the Malta Playing Fields Association. The first Playing Field in Malta was installed within this same garden. The Authorit y recently also signed a number of agreements to fund com- munit y projects with another eight local councils worth over €475,000. JAYE Malta celebrates 30 years of entrepreneurship with anniversary gala JUNIOR Achievement Young Enterprise Malta Foundation (formerly known as Young En- terprise) is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a gala dinner at the InterContinental Malta on 6 December. ALL JAYE alumni, mentors, teachers, stakeholders and friends are invited to attend this event, to commemorate the achievements of the past three decades and to kick-start those of the future. This important milestone will honour the hard-working participants of the past 30 years, who have gone on to become the leaders of some on Malta's most successful businesses. The event will also pay trib- ute to the hundreds of vol- unteers who have given their time to help young students achieve their career dreams and enjoy innumerable suc- cesses. Moreover, this cele- bration will commend the vi- sion of the founders, staff and board members of JAYE who have contributed to develop- ing the organisation's unique approach. As part of the event, JAYE Malta is also launching a Peo- ple's Choice Award for each decade via their Facebook page. The public is invited to nominate a JAYE alumn, mentor, advisor, teacher, staff or board member, or another stakeholder, who has contrib- uted to JAYE that they feel best represents the spirit of the organisation. Since being founded in 1988, JAYE Malta has introduced nine school programmes that have inspired over 7,000 young minds. Two of those programmes – the non-for- mal post-secondary Company Programme and the non-for- mal Primary and Secondary Programme – were recently awarded Level 3 accreditation of the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF 3). While not a replacement of the required O' Levels for entry into post-secondary and tertiary institutions, the learning outcomes and edu- cational achievements of the programmes are equivalent to those obtained at O' Level.
