Take That – Odyssey It's been many years but this British band is still making music their fans love. 30-year-old band, Take That released a re-imagined album 'Odyssey' which takes the listener on a journey through the incredible musical history of the beloved band. The band released the album ahead of next year's hits tour next year. If you're a Take That fan, the album will surely feature some of your favourite songs. Architects - Holy Hell Metalcore band, Architects, released their eighth album earlier this month. Holy Hell is exactly what you'd expect from the band, and so much more. The album is the fi rst to be released since the tragic and widely publicised death of guitarist and pri- mary songwriter Tom Searle. Because of this, the album is riddled with grief which only escalates the music to a deeper meaning that the listeners can easily hear. Mewt Go Venezja – Thomas Mann, translated by Alfred Palma Death in Venice is a novella written by the German author Thomas Mann and was fi rst published in 1912. The work presents a great writer suffering writer's block who visits Venice and is liberated, uplifted, and then increasingly obsessed, by the sight of a stunningly beautiful youth. Though he never speaks to the boy, much less touches him, the writer fi nds himself drawn deep into ruinous inward passion; meanwhile, Venice, and fi nally, the writer himself, succumb to a cholera plague. The novella is powerfully intertextual, with the chief sources being fi rst the connection of erotic love to philosophical wisdom traced in Plato's Symposium and Phaedrus, and second the Nietzschean contrast between the god of restraint and shaping form, Apollo, and the god of excess and passion, Dionysus. The Italian Teacher – Tom Rachman The artists are gathering together for a photograph. In one of Rome's historic villas, a party glitters with socialites and patrons. Bear Bavinsky, creator of vast, masculine, meaty canvases, is their god. He is at the centre of the picture. His wife, Natalie, edges out of the shot. What makes an artist? In The Italian Teacher, Tom Rachman displays a nuanced understanding of art and its demons. The book was also recently short- listed for the Costa Book Award 2018. An Unremarkable Body – Elisa Lodato One day in 2012, 30-year-old Laura arrives at her mother Katharine's house in Surbiton, Laura's childhood home, only to discover her mother's body lying in a heap at the bottom of the stairs, her neck broken by the fall.
