COMMERCIAL maltatoday | SUNDAY • 25 NOVEMBER 2018 19 Top Harley-Davidson consultant visits Fapi Motors THE Delicata winery has just launched Malta's first barrel art con- test christened Bettija'rt | wine.art. living with €1,000 in prize money and other rewards to be earned. The in- augural edition is organised in asso- ciation with Is-Suq Tal-Belt Valletta Food Market. Malta's foremost winemaker is call- ing for painters and other visual art- ists to direct their creativity and artistic skills towards the transfor- mation of a decommissioned bar- rique (a wine barrel or bettija in Mal- tese) into a stunning work of art (a so-called bettija'rt). The inspiration and theme each original art piece has to ref lect is "the joy of wine, art and good living in Malta today and through the ages". The official call for Delicata's 2019 Bettija'rt | wine.art.living competi- tion is now open and artists can ex- press their interest until 14 December 2018. The oak barrels will be supplied by the winery to the chosen artists. Delicata's barrel art contest shows that art is a living thing just like wine, and making art and its appreciation has become an exciting exploration of new media and ways of creating and presenting. When announcing the contest, win- ery director Mario Delicata said: "We realise that Delicata's Bettija'rt art venture is but a modest effort to make the wonderful works of our talent in Malta more visible. Yet, we hope that artists feel inspired and will lend a hand in helping us with bringing the local arts, our best wines of Malta and their enjoyment into everyone's daily life". The iconic Victorian-era venue of Is-Suq Tal-Belt Valletta Food Market will take centre stage in the showcas- ing of the collective art display next spring. "We are proud to host this exhi- bition at is-Suq tal-Belt, a space which combines gastronomy, cul- ture and the good life perfectly. This event also ties in with our philosophy of is-Suq becoming a venue for artistic initiatives," said Maria Micallef CEO of Arkadia Marketing Ltd., part of the Mizzi Organisation. In addition to the cash prizes, rewards and gifts for the contrib- utors to Delicata's 2019 Bettija'rt | wine.art.living contest, par- ticipating artists will also receive coverage in traditional and social media. The winery's art challenge is decided by public and jury vote. Established as well as upcoming artists residing in Malta aged 18 and over can express their inter- est via the winery's website w w w. delicata.com. Delicata launches art contest FAPI Motors had the pleasure of welcoming one of Harley-Davidson's top consultants Paul Ste- phenson at their show- room in Attard. Stephenson has worked as a general manager for Harley-Davidson Dur- ban and Lebanon for a total of 18 years. He has also been a consultant for the company for a total of 10 years, offering his services to franchise stores worldwide, such as Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North and South Africa and Asia. Furthermore, Stephen- son has managed to set up six Harley-Davidson dealers in Lebanon, which is an impressive accomplishment. He now plans to go to China to continue to help with the growth of the Asian market. During his visit, Stephenson surveyed the Harley-Davidson sec- tion in the Fapi Motors showroom and discussed new sales and marketing possibilities with the management and staff. After- wards, he headed down to the Fapi Motors workshop and met factory-trained mechanic Jonathan Pandolfino. He also had the chance to meet up with Famalco Group's direc- tor Hermann Mallia to discuss the continued growth of the Har- ley-Davidson brand in Malta. "I am very happy I got the chance to meet with Mr Stephenson. He knows what he is talking about and has the brand's best interest in mind," Mallia said. When interviewed about the brand's presence in Malta, Ste- phenson remarked that Fapi Motors was doing a wonderful job at presenting what Harley-Davidson has to offer. He said that their showroom was not only well kept, but offered a very warm feel despite it being decorated similarly to most Harley shops. He also said that the store offered a wide selection of merchan- dise which was neatly and professionally displayed. Stephenson said that he believed the brand would continue growing. He said Harley was a fantastic brand to be ridden in Malta due to its many touring locations – the beautiful Maltese landscapes and seascapes. He said that everyone should experience the Harley-Davidson brand. "Ultimately, it's a very well known and affordable brand, backed up by a fantastic community as well. I advise people to come and have a look at the showroom, gear up and get on two wheels in- stead of four," he said. "I mean, why ride a car when you can ride a Harley?"
