11 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 24 FEBRUARY 2019 MUSIC ENVIRONMENT The song thrush (M. malvizz) is one of our common au- tumn visitors, in some years appearing in quite large num- bers. Most use the Islands as brief resting posts in their dash across the Med to North Africa, but quite a few would happily opt to spend the winter here, adding colour and movement to our groves and orchards. And song! There's a reason this bird has song in its name – one could spend hours listening to the strong fluty notes of this wonderful songster. Naturally this beauty is wasted on those few thou- sand men who insist that the only good song thrush is a dead song thrush. They would argue that it's a game bird, but for a bird that's less than half the weight of your iphone, how pathetic is that! And so, rather than being left alive to enrich our woodlands and our hearts, these wintering song thrushes keep getting shot for the hell of it. SONG THRUSH IT takes some serious speed and precision to keep up with energetic MC and music pro- ducer Blakie. That's why Ford teamed up with the 21-year-old "Can't see them" and "Bare Energy EP" star for a new film that demonstrates the agility and responsiveness of the all-new Focus ST performance car. Shot over three days on lo- cation at the company's test track in Lommel, Belgium, the film shows Londoner Blakie perform his track "Jump" from the passenger seat of the Focus ST – devel- oped by the specialists at Ford Performance. Sophisticated technologies including an electronic lim- ited-slip differential, anti-lag turbocharging and selectable Drive Modes help the car keep pace in a race with the rapper as he chops and changes his rhythms and tempos. Blakie even free-styled his lyrics especially for the film, to give them a unique Focus ST twist. Watch the video here: htt- ps://youtu.be/EqGiTaUWrto "Having a film made to a track I wrote in my bedroom was amazing – my mum drives a Ford so she'll be re- ally happy," said Blakie. "I loved working with an amaz- ing driver and experiencing the adrenaline of the Focus ST on a test track." Featuring enhanced power- trains, chassis and braking, the all-new Focus ST goes on sale this summer in five-door and wagon body styles, and with powerful 280 PS 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol and 190 PS 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel en- gines. All track activities were filmed on a closed circuit and monitored by Ford's safety experts. Anticipated CO2 emissions from 175 g/km and fuel effi- ciency from 7.6l/100 km for 2.3-litre EcoBoost, and from 124 g/km and 4.8l/100 km for 2.0-litre EcoBlue. Officially homologated fuel- efficiency and CO2 emission figures will be published clos- er to on-sale date. Blakie sets a pace for the Ford Focus ST to match as he performs his track "Jump" Rap star Blakie experiences new Ford Focus ST in unique track challenge Ford says the new Focus ST – based on the all-new car that was launched last year – will provide the best driving experience of any Focus ST
