APRIL 6 Trikki Trakki – Youth Theatre Festival Following a successful first year, Trikki Trakki is back – bigger and better than before. After weeks of rehearsals, six of our leading theatre directors will be leading six groups of lo- cal students as they perform six adaptations of classic texts for their audiences. The students have been led by seasoned professionals, in all aspects of theatre-making. This show is made for students by students and they can't wait to see you in their audience! The classic novel, a potent allegory about the loss of innocence and the decline of civilization, is brought to dramatic life in Nigel Williams' adaptation. A plane crashes on a deserted is- land. The only survivors are a group of young adults. By day, it's a tropical paradise of sun and sea; but each night, their dreams are inhabited by a ter- rifying beast. Recommend age group: 8+ APRIL 6 Manon Lescaut Manon Lescaut is the oper- atic production for this year's Gaulitana: A Festival of Mu- sic. Puccini's masterpiece, pre- sented following an absence of over 20 years from the local stage, promises to be a spec- tacular night for opera buffs. Miriam Gauci – Malta's "Don- na non Vidi Mai" – features in the title-role, following on her "triumphant and touching" Madama Butterfly in 2017. Des Grieux shall be interpreted by acclaimed Puccini singer En- rique Ferrer - renowned for his dramatic power, personality & musicality. Booking is open, directly online on www.teatruaurora.com or via ticket helpline 7904577 APRIL 26-28 Glitter Punch A critically-acclaimed play about first love that has already taken the British theatre world by storm will soon have its Mal- ta debut at the Blue Box Theatre. Glitter Punch by Lucy Burke is a gritty, coming-of-age drama, which tells the story of the two young protagonists Molly and John as they meet, start a trou- bled relationship, and embark on a journey of forbidden love that will change their lives for- ever. For its Malta debut, Glit- ter Punch is produced by local theatre company Masquerade Malta and will feature up-and- coming performers Gianni Selvaggi and Monique Dimech Genuis for three shows only, at the Blue Box Theatre inside M Space in Msida from 26 to 28 April 2019. More information may be found online at www. masquerademalta.com Music APRIL 12 Gianni Morandi Concert Gianni Morandi will be sing- ing live at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Tà Qali on April 12. The show will fea- ture more than 40 tracks from Morandi's repertoire forming a playlist that would retrace the fundamental stages of his 60-year career. They include Occhi di ragazza, Scende la pioggia, La fisarmonica, Non son degno di te, Uno su mille, Dobbiamo fare luce, and Una vita che ti sogno. These last two tracks are part of Mo- randi's 40th album D'Amore e D'Autore, in which Morandi in- terprets songs of love.The show starts at 9.30pm. JULY 19 Il Volo Live On 19th July, Il Volo will be at the Malta Fairs and Con- ventions Center in Malta and 23th July at the Teatro Antico in Taormina. Il nuovo album of Il Volo confirms the worldwide success of the trio winning the TOP 10 on iTunes of the best- selling albums in 14 location, from Malta to Brazil, from Fin- land to Israel. With 11 tracks and the production of Michele Canova, enhances the voices of Piero Barone, Ignazio Bos- chetto and Gianluca Ginoble, collecting their tastes and their musical influences in a CD that represents 10 years of a long friendship and music together. JULY 10 Pink Floyd's Nick Mason live in Concert Rock 'N Malta are proud to present Pink Floyd's founding member Nick Mason and his band Saucerful of Secrets live in concert on the 10th of July at St.George's Square, Valletta. Nick Mason's Saucerful of Se- crets featuring Nick Mason, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Har- ris and Dom Beken is a unique opportunity to experience Pink Floyd's celebrated and signifi- cant early body of work played live including songs from al- bums 'The Piper At The Gates of Dawn' and 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'. Tickets are available from www.kultura.mt Exhibitions APRIL 26 – MAY 26 Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli Award-winning artist-illus- trator Julian Mallia, also known as Julinu, will soon present his first solo painting exhibition that promises to offer alterna- tive visual interpretations of familiar notions and elements from pop culture.The exhibi- tion, named Julinu's Radioac- tive Ravioli, features a collec- tion of 17 realistically-executed oil paintings, which utilise the artist's signature graphic wit, atmospheric surrealism and meticulously-executed visual ideas to present a different take on reality. Curated by Justine Balzan Demajo and Francois Zammit, Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli is supported by a Mal- ta Arts Fund Project Support Grant from Arts Council Malta and by Vee Gee Bee Art, San Gwann. It is targeted at anyone aged 16 and above and will be exhibited at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta from Friday 26 April until Sunday 26 May, with en- trance free of charge. Festivals MARCH 8 – APRIL 7 Gualitana Festival of Music "Gozo's main classical mu- sic festival" returns between 8 March and 7 April 2019. This year's edition promises to be an exciting programme of events focusing on the theme "Women in Society". Gaulitana will include an eclectic mix of events with multifarious styles – orchestral, chamber, recitals, vocal, featuring international and local artists and ensem- bles. Held in various locations around Gozo (with some events in Malta), the festival incor- porates multiple creative arts, from literature, to acting, cin- ema and live-painting, whilst presenting multiple genres (jazz, pop, musicals and folk music). It will also host an ex- hibition by 30 Chinese female artists and shall commemorate the bi-centenary since the birth of Clara Schumann. Culture APRIL 5 Dawra Dalam Next Friday, 5th April, Herit- age Malta is inviting the public to a cultural walk from Għar Dalam to Borġ in-Nadur ac- companied by the curator who will be presenting tours to both sites. After the tour at Borġ in- Nadur, participants will walk back to Għar Dalam where they will be welcomed with some light nibbles and refreshments. A tour of the site will follow both at the prehistoric cave and at the museum which houses a Victorian style exhibition and a didactic display. 18:30pm.
