12 MUSIC maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 5 JUNE 2019 ON 21 and 22 June, the Embassy of Austria in Malta and Teatru Manoel will be presenting a fantastic double bill featuring the young dynamic and charismatic ensemble Trio Immersio from Vienna. Ambassador for Austria in Malta An- dreas Stadler pictures them as follows "Trio Immersio" is the best example of the openness of Austria and Malta in difficult times when we are confronted with provincialism, nationalism and political egotism such as "my country first". For Austria, we have learned from our past and we remain com- mitted, maybe more than ever, to the arts, to a united and strong European Union, to cultural openness and cu- riosity, to our tradition and to young talents. Founded in 2013 the trio (Vira Zhuk, violin – Maria Vardzelashvili, piano - Mariam Vardzelashvil, cello) won already some prestigious prices and was awarded the title of New Austri- an Music Ambassador for 2018/2019. The ensemble is praised for its deeply moving, imaginative and colorful ded- ication to the Austrian music. A style that is highly appreciated internationally and that brought the musicians already to renown inter- national venues and places such as Musikverein Wien, Wiener Konzer- thaus, Flagey Brussels, CRR Concer Salonu in Istanbul, and Cathage festi- val among others. Now they are honoured to take the stage at Teatru Manoel. As violist Vira Zhuk puts it We are very excited to bring some of our absolute favorite pieces to Malta. We invite you on a two-evening journey through time and space from 19th century to our days, where we will visit both historical and modern Vienna, with important stops in 20th century Moscow and Buenos- Aires. The first night is dedicated to the beautiful Trio Nr. 2 E-flat Major by Schubert, followed by his well-known Notturno and Shostakovich's Trio nr. 2 in E minor. During the second night the ensemble combines Brahms Trio nr. 1, with six heavy metal based min- iatures called "Schlechtecharackter- stücke" by Bernard Gander and The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Piaz- zolla. In short, perfect ingredients for two great nights, full of different emotions and flavours, not to be missed.
