17 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 4 DECEMBER 2019 The Toyota Supra is back TOYOTA unveiled the brand new 2020 GR Supra with a completely re-imag- ined design and engineering formula. The new model is inspired by the iconic Toyota 2000 GT that was originally launched in 1967. Michael Debono Ltd., the representatives of Toyota in Malta, are thrilled to bring this high- performance and unique vehicle to the local market. The 2020 Supra promises power and precision thanks to its distinctive low centre of gravity and 50:50 weight bal- ance. At an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds, the exhilarating model is Toyota's fastest production unit to date while track speed hits an elec- tronically limited ceiling of 155 mph. Toyota has done an excellent job in conserving the design cues associated with the model's celebrated history and integrating them into a stunning new design language. Enthusiasts will immediately recog- nise the 'double-bubble' roof silhou- ette, a drag-reducing innovation first seen in the 2000 GT. The fluid architecture of the 2020 Supra sets a tone of composure with a hint of aggression. The trademark central grille down the front is flanked by prominent air intakes that contrast elegantly with an otherwise seamless feel. The car's commanding profile is further emphasised by the standard 19-inch forged alloy wheels. At the rear, the turn, tail and stop function lights are incorporated into an unmistakeable panel structure that appears to flow outwards towards the tyres, accentuating the rear-wheel- drive tradition of the Supra. The ultra-modern design is matched in the interior with a sporty architec- ture featuring a low, narrow-section dashboard and an enclosed cockpit. At the same time, the space feels roomy with generous leg and head- room for driver and passenger. Premium materials, refined textures and high-quality finishes make the 2020 Supra an experience even before the engine starts. Toyota first teased the next genera- tion Supra in January this year follow- ing a break in production of 17 years. Breath-taking specs, genuine design innovations and a faithful interpreta- tion of the Toyota classic make sure that fans will not be disappointed by the much-awaited model.
