maltatoday | SUNDAY • 26 JANUARY 2020 10 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON Theatre UNTIL 14 FEBRUARY Scheherazade Scheherazade, a solo show by well-known local artist Charlie Cauchi, will take over and trans- form Valletta Contemporary into a space where coercion and cruelty, love and violence, sex and entertainment are made pal- pable. Cauchi's work consists of a multi-disciplinary and immer- sive installation built around the concept of a London Soho night- club. The exhibition will act as a pinpoint of light into the history of this dark underbelly, a place once renowned as the scandal- ous city of vice. Scheherazade is also a major fe- male character in middle eastern literature and the narrator of the tales in 'A Thousand and One Arabian Nights', keeping the sultan alive as an act of self-pres- ervation. The cast in- cludes Michelle Zerafa, Marvic Cordina, Aaron Fenech, Alan Fenech, Renato Dimech, Dolan Debattista as well as Gilbert Mallia, Daniela Carabott Pawley and Miguel Formosa. Os- car Wilde's classic masterpiece 'The Importance of Being Ear- nest' will be staged at Teatru Manoel in all its witty glory from the 31st January until the 9th February 2020. Other TODAY Open Day at Borg in-Nadur On Sunday, 26 January, Herit- age Malta is inviting the public to an Open Day which will be held at the prehistoric site of Borġ in-Nadur in Birżebbuġa. Admission will be free of charge. The landscape of Birżebbuġa has always intrigued archaeol- ogists, due to its richness in ar- chaelogical remains and sites, including Għar Dalam and the Roman villa at Ta' Kaċċatura. Around 500m away from Għar Dalam, situated high between two valleys and overlooking St George's Bay, one finds also the megalitihic site of Borġ in-Na- dur. The public can learn more about this site during a number of guided tours which are being organised during the day. At 10am and 2pm, the guided tour will be in Maltese, whereas at noon and at 4pm, the guided tour will be in English. A maxi- mum of 25 persons can join each tour. UNTIL 30 JANUARY Anima - Exhibition by Dione Borg "Anima" is an exhibition by Di- one Borg. It runs from 10 to 31 January at Art Galleries, Palaz- zo de La Salle, Malta Society of Arts, Valletta from 8am till 7pm on weekdays and 9am till 1.30pm on weekends. The exhibition will feature the artist's main creative interest through a recent series of works featuring nude paint- ings. It revolves around the artistic exploration and rendering of the human form, created through spontaneous and poetic work. For more information regarding the event visit artsmalta.org. 27 - 30 JANUARY The Malta Catering Expo 2020 The Malta Catering Expo is Malta's main culinary B2B event held in association with the Malta Chef 's Society. It showcases the latest trends and innovations in the cater- ing industry by Malta's leading suppliers. Purchasing manag- ers, F&B managers, chefs, res- taurateurs and all major play- ers within the Horeca industry visit the event to see the latest innovations within the cater- ing world. This all happens in conjunc- tion with the Malta Kulinarja, a chef 's competition extrava- ganza that has over 200 lead- ing professionals battling out to win Malta's prestigious cu- linary awards. Malta Kulinarja is held under the auspices of WACS, thereby necessitating the presence of international judges to officiate the event, together with the Malta Chef 's Society.
