From the writers of multi award-winning hit musi- cal Jersey Boys, with music and lyrics by Tony Award nominat- ed Andrew Lippa, the legendary Addams Family will make their way to the Mediterranean Con- ference Centre on the 7 and 8 March 2020. The Addams Fam- ily is sure to entertain whether you are 12 or 312! This produc- tion is being brought to you by ARTHAUS through the Artistic Direction of Lucienne Camilleri and Musical Direction of Ryan Paul Abela. The age for admis- sion is 6+ yrs. For more information please visit www.mcc.com.mt Other 20, 21 & 24 MARCH Georgian Culture Days in Malta On 20 March Old dances and Folia will be presented at the Re- public Hall of the Mediterrane- an Conference Centre. Baroque music on period instruments will complement contemporary dance. One dancer from Mal- ta will be chosen to take part in this prestigious event. Auditions were held at the MCC Dance Studio between 24, 25 and 26th February 2020. On 21 of March a programme of Classical music will be pre- sented. This will include works by Mozart, Haydn and Weber with Levan Tshadadze clarinet solo. On 24 March a programme of 20 century and modern music will be presented. This will in- clude works by the greatest mas- ters of the 20th century: Zemlin- sky , Schonberg and Nielsen, but will also incorporate the music of two important living composers, one Maltese one Georgian, Chris Muscat and Archil Giorgobi- ani. The Tbilisi state Chamber orchestra will be conducted by internationally acclaimed Alex- ei Galea Cavallazzi who tours Russia regularly and has been working incessantly to produce events in Malta with world class orchestras. Galea Cavallazzi was awarded the union Federation medal by the Russian Parliament for his contribution to culture. Galea Cavallazzi is the Music Director at the MCC. All events start at 7:30pm. Tickets can be booked by phon- ing 2559 5750 or by online book- ing www.mcc.com.mt 3 - 23 APRIL Il-hajja: Exhibition by Mario Agius Gozitan sculptor Mario Agi- us will be launching a personal exhibition of sculptures named IL-ĦAJJA at the Malta Society of Arts on the 3 April. Mario stud- ied sculpture and design with the late Maltese artists Anton Agius and Harry Alden and fur- thered his studies in the UK with sculptor Ian Norbury. His sculp- tures are in constant dialogue with our surroundings and aim to create connections and par- allelisms between human life and natural materials such as ol- ive trunks, Carrara marble and Gozo hardstone. www.marioag- ius.com Festival TODAY The Maltese Islands Festival The fourth edition of the high- ly-successful Maltese Islands Festival of drama, dance, mu- sic and singing returns, and the public is welcome to attend. This internationally-accredited performing arts festival is aimed at children and young people between the ages of four and 18, with some categories open to adults. While offering young artists a platform for networking with their peers, the MIF takes the form of a competition, giving participants the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of an audience and panel of in- ternational judges, all experts in their field. The show presents lyri- cal and colourful expressions of the artist's personal narratives related to the concept of at- traction. For more information please visit www. luciodubini.com. 30 MARCH Piano Recital by Francis Camilleri On Monday 30th March, Fran- cis Camilleri will present a solo piano recital of works spanning Classical-era drama and intro- spective Romantic elegance. Schubert's lyrical Sonata in A major D. 664 opens this pro- gramme, followed by two dra- matic works in C minor: Mozart's Sonata in C minor and Beethov- en's Pathétique sonata. TODAY Women's Day Concert by Vox Dulcis Chorale On Sunday 8th March, the all-female choir Vox Dulcis Cho- rale will be performing a concert on the occasion of International Women's Day conducted by John Anthony Fsadni and accompa- nied by pianist Petra Magri Gatt. The concert will take place at the Malta Society of Arts' Concert Hall in Valletta at 7:30pm. The early Sonata Op.7, a rarely played work, was one of the first pieces to reveal the greatness and innovation of Beethoven's musical language. This will be followed by the Var- iations in C minor and the great Waldstein Sonata Op.53, two works which display different facets of Beethoven's innovations with regard to form, texture and writing for the piano.
