At 13.1%, her trust rating when compared to Prime Minister Robert Abela is so far no different from Opposition leader Adrian Delia's 13.2%. More significantly, she appears to have left no im- pact among voters who supported the PN in the last general election Delia's biggest problem so far. The survey, carried out last week, shows Comodini Cachia's trust rating among PN voters runs at 31%, almost as much as Delia's trust at 32.7%. The overall results show Abela obtaining a 57.7% trust rating against Delia, and 58.4% against Co- modini Cachia. Abela also secures the trust of 15.4% of PN voters in the last general election, in his match-up with Delia, and 17.1% of PN voters in a contest with Comodini Cachia. The survey sees Labour regaining two points and now running at 47.8%. For the third month running, the PN continues to lose ground at 20.8%. An analysis of the figures would suggest the gap between the parties stands at around 72,000 votes. INTERVIEW Rebel guide Therese Comodini Cachia MT2•8-9 IVAN BARTOLO Rebel. If successful, the move could catalyse a new election even though the General Council would have to approve amend- ments to the recently-intro- duced statute that does not cater for such an election in extraordinary circumstances. Alternatively, they will re- quest the executive committee to call a vote to first convene the General Council, to lead in- to a call for a leadership battle. Emboldened by a second no-confidence motion they won against Adrian Delia, rebel MPs are hoping the PN leader bows down to the pressure as the party's infighting spreads over its various internal struc- tures. But insiders who spoke to MaltaToday have also men- tioned the probability that a leadership battle could attract more than just one name af- ter MPs nominated the human rights lawyer Therese Comod- ini Cachia as their choice for an interim Opposition leader. Apart from heavyweights Claudio Grech and the MEP Roberta Metsola, the former executive committee president Mark Anthony Sammut could be pushed into considering a bid for the leadership. Even Comodini Cachia has told her aides that she has every inten- tion of taking a future contest seriously and campaign for the leadership.
