The Malta of Xarabank MATTHEW VELLA AN interrogation of Mal- ta's former prime minister Joseph Muscat by police on Friday has delved into the contents of a WhatsApp group chat with his former chief of staff Keith Schem- bri, and the Tumas magnate Yorgen Fenech. Fenech is accused of be- ing the mastermind of the Daphne Caruana Galizia assassination. In Novem- ber 2019, Fenech was said to have told investigators that Muscat had asked him if Schembri had featured in re- cordings secretly taken by mur- der middle- man Melvin Theuma. Attempt to make Kohhu recant on Theuma SAVIOUR BALZAN THE former lawyer to Vincent Mus- cat 'il-Kohhu', one of the three men accused with executing the assassi- nation of Daphne Caruana Galizia, has denied attempting to make Mus- cat recant on an April 2018 state- ment, in which he named Melvin Theuma as the middleman in the assassination. Arthur Azzopardi, who dropped his brief for Muscat in late 2019 just be- fore the arrest of Melvin Theuma on charges of money laundering, denied having attempted to convince Muscat to change his version of events that fingered Theuma as the man who commissioned the Degiorgio broth- ers to murder Caruana Galizia. But MaltaToday has learnt that just one month before the arrest of Theu- ma in November 2019, the lead inves- tigator in the assassination, inspector Keith Arnaud, had informed Muscat's family that Muscat was changing his version on Theuma.
