6 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 23 AUGUST 2020 NEWS As of 00:01 on the 22 August 2020, passengers travelling to Malta from one of the below countries / cities will be required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test, taken within 72 hours prior to their arrival, before boarding their flight to Malta. Bulgaria Romania Spain (only applicable to passengers travelling from Barcelona, Girona & Madrid) Passengers who fail to present a negative test result, may be subjected to a COVID-19 test upon arrival at Malta International Airport and may be required to observe a quarantine period. BELGIUM Travel from Belgium to Malta and vice-versa is currently banned. Belgian nationals returning from Malta are subjected to a COVID-19 test on entry in the country, which is to be followed by a mandatory quarantine. CYPRUS Travel from Cyprus to Malta and vice-versa is currently banned. Cypriot nationals / residents are required to observe a mandatory 14-day quarantine period upon returning to Cyprus. DENMARK Passengers travelling for non-essential purposes, who are not nationals / residents of Denmark, will not be allowed in the country. FINLAND Leisure travel between Malta and Finland is banned. ESTONIA Passengers travelling to Estonia are required to observe a 14-day quarantine upon entry in the country. GREECE Passengers travelling from Malta to Greece are required to submit a passenger locator form electronically at least a day before entering the country and present a certificate indicating a negative COVID-19 PCR test result (PCR) for COVID-19, taken up to 72 hours prior to their departure from Malta. This certificate should be written in English, clearly showing the name and passport / ID card number of the passenger. IRELAND Passengers travelling to Ireland are required to observe a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon entry in the country. ITALY & SICILY Passengers travelling to Italy are required to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken up to 72 hours before their departure from Malta, or undergo a molecular or antigenic test to be carried out by means of a swab, upon arrival at the airport, where possible, or within 48 hours of entering the national territory at a referred local health clinic. Persons who have stayed or transited through Malta are also requested to self-isolate for two weeks on entering the region of Puglia. Sicilian residents travelling from Malta to Sicily must register on the website www. siciliacoronavirus.it and quarantine for 14 days upon arrival, with individuals being obliged to take a COVID-19 test at the end of the quarantine period. Tourists and non-residents arriving in Sicily from Malta are obliged to register themselves on the website www.siciliasicura.com, and to use the "SiciliaSiCura" app for the purpose of contacting the regional health service as well as monitoring their state of health. Crews of means of transport, health workers as well as individuals who travel to/from Malta exclusively for documented work or health reasons are exempt from these obligations, but still need to fill out a form and send it to the Civil Protection Department of the Presidency of the Sicilian Region. LATVIA Passengers travelling to Latvia are required to observe a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon entry in the country. LITHUANIA Passengers, who are not nationals / residents of Lithuania, will not be allowed in the country, while Lithuanian nationals / residents are required to observe a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon their return to the country. NETHERLANDS Passengers travelling to the Netherlands from Malta are strongly advised to observe a 10-day quarantine upon entry in the country, even if they would have tested negative for COVID-19 or are not experiencing any symptoms. NORWAY Passengers travelling from Malta to Norway or transiting through Malta, must observe a 10-day quarantine period following their arrival in the country. SLOVENIA Tourists travelling to Slovenia are required to observe a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon entry in the country. Slovenian citizens, regardless of their residence, and passengers having a permanent or temporary residence in Slovenia, travelling from EU member states or the Schengen Area can enter Slovenia without quarantine, provided that they submit evidence that they are not arriving from the countries on the red list. SWITZERLAND Passengers travelling to Switzerland are required to observe a mandatory 10-day quarantine period upon entry in the country. Please note that the presentation of a negative Covid-19 test does not exempt passengers from observing this quarantine period or shorten its duration. TUNISIA (effective 26.08.2020) Only Tunisian nationals and persons holding a residence permit will be allowed to travel from Malta to Tunisia as of 26 August 2020. UNITED KINGDOM Non-essential travel from Malta to the UK is strongly being advised against. Passengers travelling from Malta to the UK may need to self- isolate upon entry in the country.
