maltatoday | SUNDAY • 20 SEPTEMBER 2020 10 TV & FILM TODAY Sahara (1995) [Film] 10pm on Sony Movies Action (Channel 317) This desert war adventure is set during WWII and is a remake of Zoltan Korda's 1943 version. The tale chronicles the courage of an American sergeant and his few men who attempt to escape approaching German forces in their tank. As they cruise south- ward, they pick up a stranded British medical officer and band of ragged fighters that include an Australian, a Frenchman and a Sudanese officer. Eventually, water becomes a major issue and they end up at a lonely oasis where they decide to make one final brave stand against the Nazi invaders. MONDAY Futuresport (1998) [Film] 10pm on Sony Movies Action (Channel 317) In the year 2025, Tre Ramsey (Dean Cain) and his friend Fixx (Wes- ley Snipes) create a game dubbed "Futuresport" to settle gang con- flicts in place of violence. Tre soon rises to the top, while Fixx drifts away when the game becomes a commercial phenomenon. But after a terrorist group is discovered to be planning an attack, Tre teams with his journalist ex-girlfriend (Vanessa L. Williams) and Fixx to challenge the criminals to a game that just might save the world. TUESDAY Unidentified: Inside America's UFO Investigation: "Triangle Mystery" [Documentary] 10pm on History (Channel 412) Former intelligence officer Chris Mellon spearheads an inves- tigation into one of the UFO phenomenon's great mysteries. Giant triangles allegedly capable of incredible acceleration and speeds have been seen all over the world, and even near major American cities. It is questioned what these objects are and what their purpose is. A new eyewit- ness may provide the answer. Mellon and the team come to a headline-making conclusion. WEDNESDAY The Foreigner (2003) [Film] 10pm on Sony Movies Action (Channel 317) Jonathon Cold is a freelance agent hired by a mysterious man to deliver a package from France to Germany. The contents of the package remain undisclosed, even between employer and employee, but whatever it contains seems to be attracting a swarm of political corruption, backstabbing bad guys and murder. However, Cold knows he must stay one step ahead of the evil powers at work, whoever they are, no matter what the cost, as it increasingly becomes a game of step on or be stepped on. THURSDAY Valerie's Home Cooking [Culinary Show] 9pm on Food Network HD (Channel 372) Actress Valerie Bertinelli moderniz- es favorite recipes that have been passed down through her family over the years in this weekly series. Her closest friends – including "Hot in Cleveland" co-stars Betty White, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick – are the beneficiaries of Bertinelli's cooking, as she invites them over to indulge in her meals and share a laugh or two. Dishes including Italian tuna salad, baked salmon and blueberry smoothies are on the menu in Bertinelli's kitchen. Good conversation and spending time with friends are also on tap for the Golden Globe-winning actress and cookbook author. FRIDAY Game Over S1 Ep.4: "All Work and All Play" [Animated Series] 9:15pm on Melita More (Channel 315) There is help that is open to volunteers at Billy's school. Raquel takes up the work, but an overload of it, hoping to feel like a wonder mother. She finds that being "super- mom" isn't really for her. Elsewhere, Rip sets Alice up on a date with a man from his pit crew and then he decides that he must undo it and Turbo develops a drinking problem. SATURDAY The Good Doctor S2 Ep.3: "36 Hours" [Drama Series] 8:15pm on Melita More (Channel 315) Shaun and Morgan manage the emergency room in Dr. Lim's absence while Claire and Alex assist Dr. Melendez. Melendez per- forms surgery to treat a woman's endometriosis and restore her fertility. Her condition is critical, and the planned hour-long surgery stretches to over 22 hours; tensions rise among Melendez, Claire, and Nurse Flores. When a risky procedure is the only way to avoid a hysterectomy, the patient's husband refuses to make a deci- sion; he cedes the responsibility to Claire, and they perform the hysterectomy. Streaming picks Your guide to the best shows on streaming platforms Midnight Special Netflix Midnight Special is a 2016 American science fiction film writ ten and directed by Jef f Nichols, and produced by Sarah Green and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. The film stars Michael Shannon, Joel Edger ton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, Jaeden Mar tell, and Sam Shepard. Shannon plays a father who escapes with his son from both the government and a cult af ter they discover that his son has special powers. Gemini Man Amazon Prime Gemini Man is a 2019 American action thriller film directed by Ang Lee. Starring Will Smith, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen and Benedict Wong, and written by David Benioff, Billy Ray and Darren Lemke, the film follows a former hitman who is targeted by a younger clone of himself while on the run from the governmen.
