maltatoday | SUNDAY • 24 JANUARY 2021 14 COMMERCIAL LAFERLA has donated fun- damental food products to the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation through an initiative conduct- ed at their very offices, and so, have started the year off with a good deed to others. Through- out the month of December, the employees at Laferla collected vital and essential food items participating in the Founda- tion's Reverse Advent Calendar Campaign, where, as the name implies, the focus is on giving rather than receiving through- out the festive season. The initiative is just one of the regular Corporate Social Responsibility activities or- ganised within the company throughout the year, where the gift of giving is not just prac- tised around the Christmas pe- riod, but has become incorpo- rated within the identity of the Laferla offices. "CSR is part of our corporate culture here at Laferla, and our team is constantly active with- in this sphere and always happy to help others where possible," stated Kevin Laferla, one of the second-generation owners of Laferla Insurance. "Apart from the monthly donations that we collect as part of our Dress Down Days, we are also happy to participate in other initi- atives throughout the year – whether it's donating to chari- table organisations, or through giving something as simple as a can of tuna, which although seemingly small, is so impor- tant to organisations such as the Foodbank Lifeline Founda- tion. Working together, little deeds can create a big impact." The Foodbank Lifeline Foun- dation is currently supplying food packs to 300 families in need each week, with num- bers increasing over the winter months as a result of COV- ID-19's impact on the econo- my. The foundation also works closely with the Community Chest Fund as well as other charities, and is in constant need of support in order to continue upholding its great service to others. "In line with our strategy to provide the best possible ser- vice to clients, we are pleased to announce that we are now offering complimentary chauf- feur driven service to take cli- ents to the medical clinic and back home whenever medical tests in connection with a life protection policy application are required," said Michael Galea, Chief Business Develop- ment Officer at MAPFRE MSV Life. "This new added value benefit which we are offering to our prospective clients on a complimentary basis under- scores MAPFRE MSV Life's strategy to offer its clients a top quality service and added value," added Mr. Galea. In order to provide this new benefit, MAPFRE MSV Life p.l.c. will be collaborating with eCabs who will provide the chauffer transport to clients to and from their medical ap- pointments, compliments of MAPFRE MSV Life. Mr. Galea explained that MAPFRE MSV Life under- writes applications for Protec- tion Plans based on the infor- mation provided by the client. He said, "In the large majority of cases we are able to accept the client's application right away and issue the policy im- mediately. However, depend- ing on the personal circum- stances of the applicant, there are instances when we would need to arrange for the client to attend medical examina- tions or tests. Our new benefit is intended to smoothen the client journey in these cases. MAPFRE MSV Life has de- vised a very simple process that is communicated to pro- spective clients whenever they are referred for medical tests/ examinations. Clients just have to complete a simple e-form online that enables us to make arrangements with our ser- vice provider, eCabs, to pick the clients up for the medi- cal tests and take them back home thereafter. This is a no cost, added value benefit that we hope would contribute to improve the client experience when applying for a MAPFRE MSV Life Protection Plan," concluded Mr. Galea. MAPFRE MSV Life Protec- tion Plans provide clients with added security and therefore more confidence to take on the many opportunities that life has to offer. Such plans are designed to provide families and businesses with the peace of mind and reassurance as a result of the financial security they provide.
