maltatoday | SUNDAY • 16 MAY 2021 6 CULTURE An FPM podcast: 'Treasures from Malta' TREASURES from Malta is a new podcast series produced by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti. Hosted and presented by Francesca Balzan, art his- torian and artist with a long connection with FPM, each podcast episode consists of in- dividual interviews. We're get- ting away from old artefacts in glass showcases and we're go- ing into the homes and meet- ing up with some of Malta's living treasures. We dig below the surface and find out more about them. These treasures are artists, historians, art col- lectors, performers and arts practitioners with some Mal- ta connection…they're all fair game for the pod and we want to share them with you. Episodes will be regularly uploaded and you can listen by clicking on the tiles below where you will also find links and images referred to during these episodes. Alternatively, you can sub- scribe to this series or down- load individual episodes for free from your favourite pod- cast directory. Please do rate the series on the podcast di- rectory as this will help others find them faster. National Book Prize and Terramaxka 2021 issues longlist THE National Book Council has published the list of eligible titles that have been submit- ted to the National Book Prize and Terramaxka Prize 2021 for books published in 2020. The council said all books had been screened for eligibility by the adjudication board accord- ing to respective categories. In total, there have been 154 eligible submissions, 95 titles across the eight categories of the National Book Prize, and 59 titles across six categories of the Terramaxka Prize. "From this year, the Transla- tion category has been broad- ened to include works of non-fiction, poetry and drama in Maltese translation, as well as works of fiction. Besides this change, the category for Poetry is once again considering poet- ry collections written in Mal- tese or English within the same category," NBC said. The eight categories of the National Book Prize for adults are for: Novels, Short Sto- ries, Poetry, Drama, Literary Non-Fiction, Translation, Gen- eral Research, and Biographical and Historiographic Research. The six categories of the Ter- ramaxka Prize comprise three categories for original works for children and adolescents (0–7, 8–12 and 13–16-year- olds), and another three cate- gories for translated works for the same age groups. The council said in the com- ing months, the members of the board will be reading the submissions in order to select the titles for the National Book Prize and Terramaxka shortlist. The shortlist will be published on the National Book Council's website and will also appear in a number of local newspapers. The winners of the Terra- maxka Prize will be announced during an awards ceremony which will be taking place dur- ing the official opening of the Malta Book Festival on 2 No- vember 2021. The winners of the National Book Prize will be announced later in Decem- ber at an awards ceremony, of which details will be communi- cated in due time.
