maltatoday | SUNDAY • 16 MAY 2021 18 COMMERCIAL Give H.O.P.E. one jar at a time GEE'S Jams, www.geesjams. com, has long been synonymous with award winning, premium jams & marmalades produced from local, handpicked produce. Gee's Jams and Foodbank Lifeline Foundation are collab- orating by launching a limited edition of delicious, homemade marmalade and strawberry jam, aptly named 'H.O.P.E.'- after the Foodbank's motto of Helping Other People Eat. Gee's Jams has pledged to do- nate half of the proceeds from the sale of this H.O.P.E. range as a donation towards a fund- raising campaign to support this voluntary organisation. "Tackling hunger locally by providing balanced foodstuffs to turn into meals for hungry and vulnerable people is a no- ble mission which has earned my support", Gerald Strick- land, food producer behind this upmarket brand, informs us. Foodbank Lifeline Foun- dation Malta supplies weekly non-perishable food packag- es to people struggling to stay above the breadline in the short term. "It is through innovative ini- tiatives such as these" Trustee Jane Mizzi says, "that we are able to tackle hunger with- in the local community." The charity also supports families and people who have lost their jobs during the pandemic and are struggling to gain access to benefits. Give a gift with a conscience or indulge yourself by buying a jar, or gift pack, of 'H.O.P.E.' mar- malade or jam online at www. geesjams.com. The eye-catch- ing label, combined with de- licious fruity products, will brighten up anyone's breakfast and help to feed a hungry fam- ily. During this past year, the pandemic has placed a strain on Foodbank Lifeline Founda- tion's resources, as many more families struggle to feed their offspring. Without communi- ty support, such as Gee's Jams 'H.O.P.E.' collaboration, Food- bank Lifeline would be unable to meet the demand of supply- ing non-perishables to people in society who find themselves in a short-term crisis situation. Catering for over 370 families, with numbers steadily increas- ing, each week means that the needs of this voluntary organi- sation have grown exponential- ly due to the current climate of economic uncertainty. Trident Group registers improved profitability TRIDENT Group has an- nounced an improved profita- bility in its results for the year ended 31 January 2021. Group turnover decreased marginally to €1.1 million over the compar- ative period primarily due to the discounts extended to a number of tenants to support them dur- ing the pandemic. Profit before tax reached €741,000 (2020: €328,000) after taking into con- sideration prudent fair value movements on investment prop- erty amounting to €562,000 (2020: nil). This gain follows a valuation exercise carried out by an independent firm of archi- tects. Net profit for the finan- cial year amounted to €550,000 compared to €74,000 posted for the comparative period. Works on the Trident Park project are progressing well, despite the significant chal- lenges posed by the size and complexity of the project, and by the disruption caused by the onset of the pandemic. Over the course of the year, civil works were practically com- pleted, and current efforts are presently focused on the ser- vices and external and finish- ing works. "The development of our green office campus process is well under way and a range of high-quality tenants are already secured to partake in this new office experience," says Charles Xuereb, Chief Ex- ecutive Officer. Louis A. Farrugia, Chairman of the Board, added that share- holders will no doubt note and understand that given the current pandemic induced un- certainty and the fact that the Trident Park development is in the final phases of completion, the board does not believe it is appropriate to recommend the declaration of a dividend at this time. The board believes that Tri- dent Park is an exceptional de- velopment, and looks forward to welcoming its first tenants later this year. The board al- so believes that it is on the road in fulfilling the aspiration of Trident Group becoming a successful property group – as was contemplated by the Far- sons Board of Directors when it embarked on the property division spin-off plans back in 2010.
